I think as owners we should be grateful that the prices are going up as they are. That only means one thing, we drive a 20+ year old car that someone would trade us a new car for. lol.
Really thought. I just purchased mine not to long ago and when i was in the market I found some shitty cars in the 6-8k range, as a buyer it sucks but if you want a E30 you'll buy.Instagram: @E30_Lue

EAG prices are a lot higher than anywhere else because they will guarantee to buy back the car at the price you paid if you want to buy a different one. Its almost like paying extra for a service. If you can afford it its actually a pretty cool concept. You can buy a really clean old car and then when you get tired of it trade it in for what you paid without having to deal with selling it.
One of the reasons why people are willing to pay their prices and how its not really comparable to anyone else selling their car.

Flyboy definitely said it spot on. The market and people who love these cars are changing. I was a broke 18yr old when I got into e30s and now I'm a professional making good money - what I am willing to spend on the e30 experience has changed with that significantly, and will continue as the parts and cars become harder to find.
On the 911 front, my father has a 1970 911 which I have driven many times - it's a blast. He bought it for $4500 around ten years ago and it was recently (conservatively) appraised at $60k. Honestly, I'd rather drive my e30 9 times out of 10 and I'd rather own the 911. There is something about the 911 that is awesome to be around, see and experience but you are talking about a car that is 46 years old and there is a reason the e30 and e30 m3 were game changers when they came out.
The e30, M and non-m, will continue to go up in value for good reason. These are incredible driver's cars that offered an experience in the 80's you couldn't get elsewhere. As the car becomes more difficult to find, the interested buyers grow older and more financially well off, they will be willing to spend more to get that experience and own a wonderful piece of history.1988 M6 - The real project.

members like him are the future of our "sport".
places like sin city bmw do "nut and bolt" restorations on 2002's that cost well over 100 grand. not just one or two. they have a backlog sitting around just waiting for someone to get time to work on them. just because you can't afford it(most of us refuse to pay that much for an old bmw), doesn't mean it isn't fact. its a matter of time and they will be doing 100+k restorations on e30's too. all of you can be naysayers all day long. the future is plain as day to me. just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't so.
by this standard, the car he bought was actually very much the opposite of what you posted above.Last edited by flyboyx; 06-01-2016, 07:18 PM.sigpic
