Can you provide proof that Luke told you to chuck the box and that he'd send you another? What about when he told you to send it back on your dime? As it is, it's your word against his. Pics of the box will also help.

Yea this is what I was wondering.

If you have that correspondence, then send that to Paypal, they should agree to the refund without returning.

Second I am not saying your son is off his rocker, but that is a bit nuts of destroying his own brand new amp, it would have made more sense if he destroyed the Luke box out of anger.

Third and while I still dont think you should pay for the return you can ship that thing back for less then $100. I have shipped Diff's that are way heavier for $80. I have also shipped entire sets of seats across the country for $125, if you have to send it back go to a different carrier.

It's definitely not a normal thing to do, but since he just lost his dad at a fairly young age, I could understand if he's having trouble coping with that. However, that is on him, and it has nothing to do with the issue between Steady 330 and Luke.

i would consider myself to be an unstable 18 y/o. I think your son needs more help than playing ball.

I'm not the first Luke has done this to and I'm not the last. My son's anger issues are tied to losing his father, mostly. His father was helping him design this sound system when he abruptly passed, so this is a sore issue.

We only have Luke's verbal on 'pitching' the box. We do have written texts from Luke proving he accepted responsibility for sending the incorrect box. To charge a customer for such return at such expense is wrong.

So my question, before I sound too crazy, is this: would any of you pay $100+ dollars to box/ship an item back that was incorrectly sent to you? Why would you?

I'm not the first by far, nor am I going to be the last who gets the big ol' shaft from Luke. I counted 8 such threads on other boards. Perhaps we're all off our rockers.

Honestly if I had to spend $125 to get $375 back, I would still end up with $250 back in my pocket.

Not excusing what happened, as I agree return shipping should be covered.

But you had an option to get a chunk of your money back. Really, it was your only option without evidence of being told to toss the box. Now it looks like you are out of luck and just looking to share your story. You've done that.

Son sounds like a snowflake. All these excuses for bad, childish, immature behavior. Wait until he experiences life, without mommy... he sounds like a ticking time bomb.

                  That is all.

I am not going to excuse his actions, but I will say losing ones father at that age really does mess with you. My cousin lost his father at 16 and he was really bad for a while, a lot of acting out, his father was like a second father to me and the only thing that kept me in line is I was a bit older and more mature at the time.

If this was a normal occurrence before then I would say that's an issue, but this projected seems like a very father son thing so I can only imagine how many memories and emotions it would bring up.

We probably should just leave that part out of it and stick with the return facts.

As for the question if I would pay $100 to get $250 back, probably, but I would not think its right when its the company's fault.

Emotional instability speaks to one's character.. while we are in the court of public opinion... I would say it is admissible. Why is mom doing the leg work? Where is dude?

if she were to sue him for the $100 in shipping, in a court of law they may take her sending the box back as acknowledging a "wrong doing" on her part, or a passive addmission of guilt. And lets just stop slinging shit and stick to the facts. it does nothing for those involved. Those involved should stop as well, the idea is to see evidence in support of claims and get to a resolution.

I had a guy buy my CD player for the power cord, and paypal refunded him his $ as long as he sent it back, they refused to discuss the fact that he stole the cord. He won, I lost, they are not the law. I stopped using paypal as a seller for a long time because of this.

Ya PayPal is not the tribunal you'd want hearing an important case. This is all too bad, sad of a situation. I wish all involved the best and a reasonable outcome.
