he misspelt condensed! and he's talking about spellchecking right after! HILARIOUS!

My new rat box needs to be painted also, So just gonna scuff it and shot it at an area booth that allows outside users.
I went to MEPS back in July I think... I am Delayed Entry Program (DEPer)

        thread highjacked ?!?

I have seen Erick's 318i that was rollerered with Rustoleum White... It looked pretty dame good. I do question how hard that paint will get and if it will flake or not, but since it cost all of $20 I would not give a F***!

Be sure to get Red Scotch bright and scuff the hell out of your surfaces, paint it kinda think and wet sand/ buff!

I would love to do a 2 stage paint but that will require use to find a booth. As of now the idea is to setup a temp carport tent and spray a one stage paint.

I might ask around to see if I can find someone around Knoxville who would let me use their paint booth.

That will cost you, most likely... it is expesive to run a booth.

Go with the tent idea. rig up some sort of fresh air for your mask and stay in the tent and do a two stage... do a regular coat, then two thick ones with 15 mins flash between. then the clear is going to be thick, so you can wetsand any trash. You will be in there a good hour.

i herd when rolling the main thing is... is to get a good roller. and prep to as with anything.. you should definly do it. alpina white is so hot.

You can do base clear paint without a booth. You just have to make sure the paint and clear don't get wet before they are curred. I painted a hood for my car and did all of the work outside. The only thing is that I let my last coat of clear get a little wet before it was completely dry ( I left it outside overnight) and when I Looked at it in the morning it had glazed over and became very foggy. I eventually got it out by wetsanding the hell out of it, but it did eventually come out. If you havce the cash i would definetly go with base clear. It will look a million times better if done right. If your low on cash then a one stage will work good as well.

                    UPDATE:

Got both sides Shadowlined using a lot of sandpaper, some self etching primer, and some Dupont Satin Black Trim Paint. Also painted the front windshield trim to cover the shitty discolored chrome trim. Didn't have time for the rear windshield but I might today after work. I will post pictures tonight.

My main concern with going with a 2 stage in a tent setup is humidity.

I'm sure I rig up some kind of ventalation system, and I can sand out the trash no problem but I know how humid it can get sometimes here in TN and knowing my luck it will fog up my clear due to the amount of moisture in the air.

Since it's getting closer toward the end of the summer it's getting less humid closer we get to early fall. I might wait 2-3 weeks and give it a try.

This next weekend is final body work, put the new bumpers on then sand, primer, sand, and primer some more.
