    Good Deal? e30 318i?

Just looking for thoughts on this e30 318i, seems to have a few dents and I'm thinking about going to take a look at it as its only $1200 AUD with full service history. 'owner says 'ATF is leaking', so I'm not too sure if that could mean there are a few more hidden problems with the car, or if If the leak could've caused damage since it hasn't been fixed.

    Thanks :)

not sure what the austlian market is like for e30s.

ATF leaking at the master usually means its been there a while and eating the paint and rusting.

There is no such thing as a good deal on an e30. You will certainly always lose money if it is a car that needs any kind of work.

Pass. I got my 318i for AU$900 in better condition than that.

I keep an eye on Gumtree and there's regularly good deals going in WA.

jesus! the car is only 1200.00 e30's seem to be much rarer there than in the states. i say its a great deal. just because someone bought one car a few years back for 900, doesn't mean that is the value of all of them.

hell, a few years back, i bought a 91 318i sedan for 500.00. by your standard are we all supposed to think every 318i sedan is only worth that much?

            wut

Cars are not meant to be investments, you're losing money no matter what unless you buy something that by chance starts appreciating and then sell it before the bubble collapses. The fact that you can't get your money back doesn't make it not a good deal.

I was thinking of doing a swap to a street legal shell like this http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darch...-30/1117247942

Just have to find out why hes selling, seems a little fishy

This is worth repeating (even though it doesn't contain any of flyboy's usual genital-centric humor!).

Truth. Someone gave me one once. But that doesn't mean it was worth it...
