I see from the posts above that several members reached out to the seller with questions. Did the seller ever provide any worthwhile answers to the questions?
Never got anything worthwhile out of the new seller.

The new ad leaves out the pictures that show all the rust holes. And there are a lot of them. Above and under the right tail light, cowl panel, not to mention the rust in the door sills (still somewhat shown).

Well, this relisting proves it was either the same seller or a Craigslist scammer...

And the rust hole it had in the top of the door!

Thing is swiss cheese. You can sort of see him trying to play peekaboo with the rust on the bottom of the drivers door sill. Clear as day in one photo, then the next one from the bottom looking up, it's either shopped out, or that magic tape..

It's great that there are so many rust holes that we are forgetting where they are and how many... :p

                Well.. it's at 7500. Again.

Let's see if it sticks. Or if the buyer bails after seeing it in person.

I know one of the higher bidders on this car. He recently sold a restored white Alfa GTV on BaT for over $50K, and is now obsessed with getting a clean e30, even if it's a 318.

I pointed him to this thread, but he isn't scared off. He's focused on the low mileage, stock condition, and clean interior. Says he spoke to the seller at length over the phone, and that the corrosion is nothing (remember, Alfas). He's got an excellent body guy that did his Alfa, and can take care of this car in short order.

Went back and looked at the eBay pictures again that show the worst of it. It does look pretty bad, and then you have think about the "tip of the iceberg" scenario.

If you have a good specialty bodyman go over that and do a full rust repair and quality paint job, the work is going wind up costing many thousands. "Enthusiast" auto sold a clean unrestored 318is for $25,000 not too long ago but I can't imagine it's easy enough to find buyers who are willing to pay that much for these cars to make restoring to "flip" worth it. Not yet. Especially since the type of people who pay $25,000 for a clean non-M E30 are more likely to be put off by its status as restored than impressed by it. After all, to most collectors a nice original unrestored car is usually worth more than a restored one.

At that point, mileage shouldn't mean anything. The bushing and rubber, wiring, insulation still has 25 years of age on it, and will need to be replaced anyways.

I'd rather start with a 200k minor or zero rust chassis over a 40k swiss cheese like rusty tub..

Curious if the winner of the auction bailed again..

I'm sure once they actually laid eyes on the car, they probably shiate themselves.

Funny, here in NY our definition of "rusted to shit" must be veerrrryyyyy different.

That being said I only buy cars from the south.
