I'm 35. I've owned 3 E30's in the past 3 years. Had a few different vehicles prior to that. I've always had a Jeep in my life though. Never bother with the Jeep forums, unless somethings broken.

    2 WJ's and 3 XJ's. Always my DD.

    Mk5 GTI I bought new in 07.

    Couple Honda's..

and what got me started, my 98 Honda Prelude. I signed up to my first internet forum... which I'm still active on, in..

    August 2000.

I'd expect the average age on R3V to be up from what it was, old members are now older, and I don't think we're getting huge numbers of new members.

That makes sense. I have an IG account but not for real advise and research.
IG is too de-centralized. And I don't facebook with people outside my circle of tight friends and family. Making friends with strangers and mere acquaintances is a recipe for disaster. Privacy is gone, people know your business etc. If you know my business it's because we are good friends and we keep in touch. None of this facebook mess.

Nice story! For those that don't know the Beverly Hills Hotel isn't some motel 6 in Hollywood. It was the epicenter of rock and all things 90's in LA. If you ever have heard of a story about some band trashing a hotel room, and getting charged 10k to fix it, chances are it was the BHH where they would cater to such nonsense.

I've heard stories about the owner and her son - it's almost a myth in LA. Good times.

you bet there were crazy stories at the BHH ... there were always movie stars (dumbed down to celebrities nowadays) crawling all over the polo lounge ... & wannabes looking to be discovered ... & it was always snowing ... right out in the open ... it was the 80's, after all

i remember in '81, couple days before christmas, around midnight ... word got out amongst the runners that clint eastwood & margaret trudeau (yes, THAT trudeau) were curbside in the red zone right outside the front of the BHH ... clint had ripped off the rearview mirror from the benz they were in & the two of them were using it to do lines of coke while in the front seat ... we all got a good look/see as we'd run past for cars ... minutes later ... the talk on the turnpike was that margaret was riding clint as he was reclined in the driver's seat ... sure enough ... he was ... & her head kept popping up through the sunroof ... funny as hell ... they even had the front windows down ... talk about exhibitionism ...

running cars was one of my favorite jobs back in the day ... lots of perks ... we'd check ashtrays in each car for half burned joints & throw them in a big coffee can in the shack ... swing shift would then break them apart & roll some superior doobies ... & then there were the nails we would use to compromise the tires of errant guest parkers ... we were savage animals back then :-)

btw ... check out the album cover of the eagles' 1978 hit "hotel california" ... that's the pink BHH right there on the front & the album was inspired by the seedy side of the BHH ... because behind all of that glitter & money was a thick base coat of slime ... easy to get stuck in it if you didn't watch your step

that's true, something I've noticed over the years is all the older forums drying up and people now just using facebook pages. 10 years ago people still modified cars to improve their looks and performance for THEM.. now its all about how many likes they can get on facebook for fitting straight pipes and flares and only share an interest in cars because they think it would be cool

saying this i'm sure there are people who lived in the glory days of the 50s-70s, who have a similar opinion of how it was 15 years ago in the car scene comparison to when they started out

                      43. Was there to watch my current e30 get unloaded from the truck and rolled into the dealer showroom waaaay back in March '87.

My mom had ordered it in the winter of '86; I bought it off her a few years later. Also had an 88 325is from 93-96.

                        57.
Finger, ankle and hip joints are way older though. I don't need a barometer anymore, I just see if I can pick up a wrench.

Clutch knee is getting problematic too. It's nice to see there's a bunch of young punks into E30s so when I can't get in it and drive anymore I can sell it to somebody willing to pay for it. I'll buy a powder blue Buick or Mercedes and drive along in the left lane with my blinker on. And I'll be giggling while I do.

Ha! Yea, I did valet for a short while. Long enough to know to never to valet a car I really care about ;) Joyrides were had. Speed limits were broken. Clutches were roasted.

Being a Valet, is honestly a great way to get to know everything about cars. You'll park everything from Caddies to Ferraris. You'll quickly learn what makes one car better than another. Oh, and you'll learn that some guy driving a family car will often tip better then the guy driving a new p-car. It's sooooo weird. I still don't get it. (I get it, but...it's still weird)

56 on the outside, 19 on the inside, went with the 56 number for the purpose of this poll...
Have had a 1987 white 4 door 325i (very modified because r3v) since 1991, purchased preowned from BMW of Honolulu. Found r3v several years ago when a non e30 a friend mentioned it as I was doing the steering rack.
Just bought another 1987 white 4 door 325 off Craigslist for my kid last xmas, it will remain unmolested.
Now get the hell off my lawn!
