No, I am not quite your age (turning 60 in a couple of years), but I have heard this term being used for a long time.
Congratulation! I hope to be able to drive my vert long into my 80s.
Do I have this RIGHT?

It does look like a Baur convertible early model car, but they refitted the entire drive line, so late model expansion tank. Also, the side of the B-pillar says "D'Resi", not "Baur". It's also kind of interesting that they converted it to a late model instrument cluster to go along with the drive train.Ever notice if you look closely at the 'M3 truck' that it's a Baur convertible that they converted, not a factory one? Still says Baur on the B-Pillar :)
Would be an easy way to build one - take the side windows off, stick the targa section to the roof and then just fill in the back window / tray area.

"Yuppie Mobile" is the only nickname that really stuck from the 80s.Leave a comment:

yepTechnically all E30s with a fixed roof are sedans due to the B-pillar and lack of sloping roof...
although to be honest I have referred to my car as a coupe in certain circumstances where it would take to much pointless discussion to convince people that a 2-dr can be a sedan.Leave a comment:
