Ditto. I used to drive the ~3 miles to school without touching the brakes except when I had to make a complete stop. Traffic circles and revmatching FTW!
I also sit at lights in neutral with the clutch out as to not wear on the TO bearing.Comment

I used to think the engine ran lean while engine breaking. but there really isnt any accel load on it so...i dont think it would hut it.
I enginebreak when im having fun. other than that i coast to a stop in neutelComment

damn, i have learned a lot through this thread. thanks everybody. i downshifted a few times today, and i r3vmatched and it was pretty smooth.
also my buddy installed some solid aluminum trannt and motor mounts and his car sounded bad ass. though he took them off cause it was vibrating like a mofo.Comment

make your own
x1 50 cent bolt
x2 25 cent nuts
x1 rubber boot from a chair (I got a 4 pack for $2.00)
then all you need to do is cut a slit in the carpet where the clutch stop threads in, and set the height for just after the point where the clutch disengages. simple and cheap..Comment

I rev match gears a lot of the time in the e30. For a long time I did it every shift because I wanted to improve my technique, i don't even have to think about it now. In the race car often times I wont even use the clutch, i've gotten smooth enough we don't have any problems with breakage or wear. Often times the weak point in the drivetrain of a high output car is the clutch, so we stay off it. I use engine braking around town ALL the time cuz it save brakes, clutch, drivetrain."If your going to make a mistake, make it a 100mph."....."But only on the racetrack".....Comment
