OT: TCD 535i Prototype Intercooler Pictures

Here are some pictures of the prototype water/air intercooler. It is sized to flow unrestricted air for 500HP. We'll have some dyno numbers for this setup soon.

Looks pretty tight between that strut bar and the intercooler housing. A minor detail right now....I'm sure it will be addressed once more critical goals have been met.

Nice work for a prototype. The dyno numbers should be interesting. Keep us posted.

Todd, could you explain me or us a bit more why you choosed the AIR/Water IC instead os AIR to AIR IC? I know only that the Air to water IC have some runner inside wich flows the water and cool the charge of corse, but what I don't know is from where the water is get, from the coolant system of the car or a external water tank reservoir with a aux pump?

My partner built the intercooler. We build all the prototypes in house.

Looks pretty tight between that strut bar and the intercooler housing.
It is tight but there is suitable clearance.

That is hands down the gayest looking intercooler I have ever seen.

Guys, you will probably shoot me down in flames here but does it really matter what it looks like, as long as it is functional and does the job. You can certainly say it's different though!!

Kias and Hyundai's are functional little cars that do the job, but I dont see any of us driving them.

Everything is about looks. Always somewhere looks will fall into the equation. And that intercooler looks stupid.

If I'm going to spend the asking price on that kit, I should be able to expect a big badass front mounted intercooler behind my bumper so people can see and hear I mean business.

ok ok, I'll admit everything is to do with looks when it comes to cars and that don't look very good. I wouldn't have it in my engine bay, and I think that mounting it somewhere else would be a good idea. The bumper mounted intercoolers do look better and I also like to see the engine without having to stare at a big metal box.

I'd rock that intercooler/turbo setup, and laugh at jordan while he stares at my exhaust pipes 8)
