Same here in MI, I know a fellow construction worker that was taking a piss behind the door of his truck an a cop happened to see him from down the street. " I know what you were doing" is what the cop told him, now hes a registered sex offender and had to go tell all his neighbors why hes on the list.

Jscotty, i know it sounds like BS, BUT, public urination in the state of Missouri, IS a sex crime. just to clarify. :)

secondly it is simply assonine to say that a sex offender should be put to death that is quite simply moronic.

let me add the disclaimer by saying that I in no way wish to associate my self as a sex crime sympothiser, they are criminals and should pay for their crimes, but not permanent, public identification. Lets say someone makes a completely ass remark once on the board, will we discredit every other word that comes out of their mouth?, different, but you see my point.

That does not sound like BS to me. I know all too well that southern states criminalize most forms of extreting bodily fluids. Like in the southern parts of Virginia, spitting on the sidewalk gets you arrested let alone public urination, defication in anything other than a proper outhouse or sanitary facility, and public vomiting as a result of being drunk.

i wasnt calling you a liberal waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles unless of course you are one. it was a generalization...... however, i bet you wouldnt feel the same way about letting a few guilty ones go if god forbid one of them was fucking your child in the ass

I think it would be good though. When I get old and have kids I could tell them to stay the hell away from a car with bright green plates.

                    Doubt it will happen though.
Thats the thing. Sometimes the laws they charge you with, completely bunch you into a bullshit category since the definition is so broad.

In my opinion, this issue is one that transcends politics or left wing / rightwing bias. Liberal or conservative, I imagine most are repulsed by this more-than-deviant behavior.

The rehabilitation failure rate is 90% +. The recidivism rate for these individuals is 90% + as well.

Keep in mind that child predators do not limit their activity to fondling; rape, anal rape, and other disgusting acts are forced upon children as young as 1 year old… I have no pity for an individual so selfish that he or she cannot control his or her impulsive perversions and is willing to seek satisfaction regardless of the physical, mental and emotional trauma they creating in the lives of their victims.

When I was 15, my buddy and I were skating at a park near my house. I noticed there was a car following us around, from Baskin Robbins to Target and then to the park, this car was within 30 feet of us. I skated up to the car thinking the driver was someone we knew, but it was some old guy masturbating while watching us skate. I almost puked – I had never seen anybody doing that and it was disgusting. Even though he didn’t physically touch me, I was traumatized for a few years. I would have nightmares and get freaked out if I saw a similar car around. I can’t imagine how kids that have been molested feel…

So, should sex offenders be labeled as such? Yes. All of these people are adults and were aware of the repercussions of their actions, but chose to commit these offenses anyway. Sure, they may have spent some time in jail, but is that fair restitution for sexually abusing a baby? Baby rapists are not sentenced to life in prison without parole, are they? They serve some time and have “paid there debt to society”… then they are able to resume their life…

Ultimately, we need extreme legislation to deter offenders from committing these crimes. Castration? A life of hard labor? Whatever it is, it can’t be too much. Sexually abuse a child, lose your life…

Sorry bro, I am not cool with seeing an old man wacking it fantasizing about me...

BTW, by the time I was 15 I had already broken my leg in three places, torn mass ligaments, gotten eight stitches to my chin, and another six to my hand. Skate or die, bro

Yeah.. and if I fit into the generalization, I'd like my official "liberal waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles" bumper sticker.

But as for the other situation, that would be a tough choice that I wouldn't want to wish on anyone. Should my kid "take one for the team" so that the likelyhoood of the responsible family man being wrongly accused would be reduced? Of course not.. and often we would like to think in terms of stuff like this always happening to someone else because we think that we are too good for it to happen to ourselves.

So in that regard, I am selfish much like most other people. If I gotta choose between an innocent man going up the river to meet bubba and my kid meeting bubba when he gets out of prison, I will be sending the innocent man a couple cartons of cigarettes as I wish him luck as he goes off to the pokey.

for the people that are real sex offenders, (not necessarily what the law says is one) definitely. But with the 2-party government we have now, and a general puritannical/punishment motivated society we have in this country, I think it would ONLY make things worse. And this issue definitely transcends all party lines.

I don’t understand what Puritanical values has to do with this topic, but if you are referring to the suggestion that some people have been labeled as sex offenders for merely urinating in public, then I have an opinion on that.

The concept of wearing garments to conceal one’s genitals is not a puritanical ruse to propagate modesty; some of the oldest civilizations in the world, cultures that have not been ‘diluted’ with Roman Catholicism or Puritanical values cover their genitals… this leads me to believe that even the most non-Western of humans, non Christians, know not to expose themselves in public. I don’t think urinating in public (public meaning in the presence of other people) deserves the sex offender title, but it does show lack of judgment and lack of respect for others.

As for punishment, holding people accountable for their actions then meting out justice if he or she continues to infringe on the rights of innocent parties has been in existence long before organized religion and is a practice validated by every faith and culture. ;-)
