The Official 2007 F1 Series Thread.

I know there's a lot of people here who follow F1, and the 2007 season is here at last. I thought it might be cool to have a thread dedicated to following this year's season, as it seems to be off to a great start!

Enter the world of Formula 1. Your go-to source for the latest F1 news, video highlights, GP results, live timing, in-depth analysis and expert commentary.

Looks like Raikkonen had a great day yesterday, starting out in the front and staying there for the whole race! Massa had his share of problems though, getting dropped farther and farther toward the back until he was in dead last.

I didn't catch the whole race but I did see about the last 20 or so laps. Should be a great season, I'm anxious to see how Kimi will do behind the wheel of the Ferrari, he's got some big shoes to fill and a large shadow cast on him by the legacy of Michael. BTW, who took his place with McLaren?

Massa is still #1 man at Ferrari. I want him to win since Schuie basically stepped down for him.

Massa started dead last BTW, he had a gear box issues that dropped him out of Q1 and put him in 16th. He then had an engine change and started 22ed. He moved up quite a bit and would of finished ahead of Fisi had he not been held up by Button and had a lengthy stop.

Great idea Josh......maybe sticky this mofo since there's a couple of periods during the 2007 season where there's a three week lull (and a one month lull between races three and four) and this thread could get buried as a result.

At any rate, lots to look forward to this season - driver changes and rookies, Bridgestone is the only tire, frozen engine specs for a few years and MS has gone fishing (or karting). Speaking of MS, during his time in F1 he won an average of 6 races per season so that's a lot of points up for grabs now that he is gone.

My observations from winter testing and the race in Melborne:

-Ferrari looks very strong and they've got the pace to prove it

-McLaren (and more importantly Mercedes) gained some much needed reliability and look to be quick

-Aside from a gearbox gremlin, BMW-Sauber looks to be quick....I expect their pace to improve as the season progresses

-Honda & Toyota: get your shit toegther you big budget mofos!

-Super Aguri: (legal issues aside) could prove to be quicker than the factory Honda....critics will have a field day if does happen

-Red Bull II: Speed and Liuzzi have Ferrari power and aero by Adrian Newey so they better make good with this killer package (in theory)

Yes he is.... he made it clear throughout the entire race that Alonso could not touch him. Really unfortunate to see how the pass ended in the pit time difference. Dominant 2nd place the whole race.... simply amazing.

like i said in the other thread teams to watch are ferrari, mclaren, bmw

all these teams seem strong and i believe the number one guy for ferrari is kimi, he is just quicker then massa...although mass has a shot kimi has shown his strengths in the past seasons when his car ran right as underpowered as it has been with mclaren

bmw i believe will do better they have a good car it looks like

hamilton looks to be quick, and such a yungster too...i bet that has alonso cringing in his thoughts haha

yea they do. they spent 300 million dollars on their car for this year and it is slower then the car and doesnt perform as well then last year. i know that the tyres they are running make a difference and are slower then the tires of last year but thats no excuse. each year these teams pour millions upon millions of dollars into F1 for the entire car, aerodynamics, suspension, brakes, power, reliability, anything that can make the car go faster. lap times get quicker every single year teams need to be on top of their game. it isnt about the most money spent in the sport, you just need to do your homework and know what this sport is all about. ferrari used to not be the team to beat all the time but they got their because they did their homework, seeing what works and what doesnt work and go from there. ferrari alone spends millions upon millions for any extra millisecond they can squeeze out of the car.

No Massa is #1 man at Ferrari. The cars are numbered as so, Massa #5, Kimi #6 as well as the camera mounts on top of the car, red/orange is #1 and yellow is #2. So in Ferrari's eyes he is #1 man.

Massa is by far a better driver than Kimi, the preseason test times and practice times show this. This race was not a good show as his car was loaded down with fuel and he only made one stop haveing started 22ed due to engine and transmission failures. Meaning that one of those sets had to of been the Bridgestone soft tire which blister and degrade quickly.

Last year Kimi was not in a good car and did not show any kind of pace, and did not win a single race . The year before [2005] he had the best car/tire with Mclaren and the ever widening Michelin's, later to be banned by the FIA. In 2003 he was within grasp of the title but Schuie wa just too good.

I'll be pullin for BMW as usual. Kubica shows a lot of promise and hopefully Heidfeld's performance will continue to be on par with the first race. Other then that I'll also be pulling for Kimi and won't ever give up on Ralf :D
