I believe it was said as soon as Hamilton crossed the line that he (Hamilton) had another reason to celebrate because his friend Kubica had a broken leg and nothing more.

      YEAH I KNOW WHY....

What I want to know is why one set of people was penalized so severely while another was given a 'slap on the wrist'

As far as TV coverage for F1 races is concerned, the raceday coverage will be on Fox for four races (todays' Canadian GP, next weeks' USGP, the British GP and French GP - check the F1 calendar for the dates of the last two races). Keep in mind, this is raceday coverage only - practice and qualifying can still be seen on Speed.

Now as for todays' race, so many points to address.....where does a fan start?

First, Lewis Hamiltons' win was a bit of a surprise. I say 'bit' because I knew he was going to get one this year given the way his debut season has unfolded....I just wasn't expecting it to happen within the first six races. What else can be said about his performance today? He's very talented, has a solid & quick car and starting on pole just about assured him the commanding lead he held. What is more amazing about this accomplishment is the fact he did this on a track he's never raced before.

Next, Kubica's crash. In a word - wow. In another word - scary. It sort of reminded me of Joey Hands' accident. When Kubica ran off into the grass it looked as if he hit a bump or dip which launched the noise up some....then it look like it clipped S. Speed's ride parked by the barrier....this only put the nose up higher just before impact with the wall. In watching the replay, just a few more inches higher and his car could've nearly cleared the barrier and gone careening into god-knows-what. The following tumbles and breaking apart of the car raised the hair on the back of my next. I was almost fearing the worst. I hope Kubica makes a complete and speedy recovery.

Lastly, how about Sato and Super Best Friends putting the moves on Alonso? This is a team whose entire budget is probably smaller than Honda's catering budget for the factory team and they're starting to show more promise. Glad to see such an underdog status team making waves. Hope they do more of that this season.

This was one of the most exciting races in the past few seasons, I wish Kubica a fast recovery though....any word on who BMWs replacement driver is for the few weekends?

Yes it was a GREAT race and I love the smarts by Sato to keep Alonso in the "racing line" where it was all marbled and he took the inside and could brake later and make the pass!!!

                Things to look after:
Hamilton - He is only going to get better. He is just so on point with everything from starts to 1st corners to passing to holding off other drivers to car control and to keeping the car from stalling in the pits. He will win another race soon. Im very impressed and may have found the driver I will be ruiting for in Indy.
Bmw - Holding off Ferrari yet again. Good job boys. I love how their team is working this year they are getting better by performance
Kubica - I to 'freaked' when i saw his accident, Im suprised that he just has a broken leg because he was really moving when he had that horrific looking accident
Ferrari - With pressure on them can they make up for there not so promising season and have another legendary Ferrari comeback to the top? Do you remember when Kimi bumped into the back of Massa on the first corner or so? Whats happening to Kimi? Is he just plagued with bad luck or too cocky for his own good? Everyone thought he'd be the one to beat in the Micheal Schumachers Ferrari. Blag flag for Massa? He looked pissed off about that. I would be, I cant remember the last time they issued one of those, let alone two in one race.
Kovalayen (however you spell that) - He finished 4th. His most promising result all season. He is also a rookie who has had pressure on him to do well, especially with how Hamilton is performing.
Bienvenue a Montreal - The wall that so many cars had slid into bring many sc's out. Both spykers in a row tsk tsk
Alonso - what a terrible race for the guy, how many times did he take the car offroading?? The pressure must have gotten to him this weekend pretty bad.
The Ballet Corner - Trulli and Rosberg spinning out at the same time was pretty cool
Honda - Super Best Friends are laughing at you!
Toyota - Suspension problems all weekend what?
Williams - Nice job outdoing toyota
Super Aguri - Touche as well. Nice job Sato passing the ex champ

so much happened im sure i missed more

Latest news says Kubica did not suffer any injuries, ie no broken leg. Amazing

                  EDIT: Sprained Ankle, nothing more

It's impressive to see the level of safety of those cars. You'd like to think otherwise with all that carbon fiber and weak looking parts.

Kovalainen has to be on cloud 9 about now. After the crap he put himself through in practice and qualifying, then in the last spot on grid.

                        Same for Wurz.

You gotta love Kubica, first thing he asked when he awoke was "can I race at Indy?" and there is still a possibility that he will. Light concussion and a sprained angle. I thought he was dead, no question. Indy is going to be a great weekend of racing, Hopefully BMW will have another great weekend, minus the accident. Studio 35 was great, big screen, beer, food, lots of people. The next one will be for the French Gran Prix, check here if interested in coming for times, they usually open about and hour before race starts. Can't wait for INDY.

To hear that Kubica didn't suffer a broken leg (as first speculated) is all the more amazing and further credits the level of safety engineered into the cars. To put that statement into the form of a picture, look what I found on yahoo! UK. Note how Kubica's feet are visible and even some of the pedal assembly....
