Can an E30 be fast?

As I read through this whole thing I noticed something. Why does everyone seem to refer to Japanese cars as 'ricers'? I think this might be an Iowa only thing but, I could be wrong. Anyway, however you choose to give your engine more horsepower just make sure you can stop all that power and out-manuever your opponent. Otherwise best of luck winning anything.sigpic

Heh, that's very possible. Do you suppose they call our cars 'Pork choppers'? Maybe 'Hot Dogs'?sigpic

Maybe because street racing other cars to see if yours is "fastar" is fucking stupid. Who cares if your car/my car/his car is faster then who ever's. All that matters is that it is fast enough FOR YOU.Comment

i see where the OP is coming from tho kuz i used to street race but i realized how pointless it was and how quickly it becomes monotonous. but wher i used to work at i worked with a bunch of car guys(celica gts, integras, civics maximas) and every shift we'd spend it talkin shit about cars and when we got off of work usually around 1-3 am we would usually race home one the highway which was completely empty at those times even on saturdays.now the roads are twisty and it was dangerous but we drove those roads so much that it was second nature to us. my point being that even though one does not like or endorse street racing, friendly "spirited" driving sessions often DO happen and its nice to know that your vehicle is in good standing amongst your compettitors. yea theres no prize but thats like winning a street fight its about pride and bragging rights...
those that get it get it and if you dont then you just dont i cant break it down any simpler than thatOriginally posted by ebelementsAlso, for those who don't know, negative camber is the greatest thing since sliced bread(panera). Even tire wear is for city busses and the elderly.

a fast e30?
sounds like an oxymoron to me........
lol, but seriously, turbo, or engine swap is pretty much the only way to garauntee some sort of quickness.
but a stock "i" engine, with a chip is almost fast enough.Comment

If it makes you feel any better about getting an E30, my 325is stock would slowly pull on my friend's '00 Si (dc headers, CAI). Once I put a chip in it, it was no competition.
And once I put an S50 in it I would race him on the freeway in 5th gear while he started in 3rd and would blow him away.
But seriously, you should be doing some more research on these vehicles before posting a thread like this. Search function is your friend.
