What is typical? What some hack threw together with junkyard parts? A 1978 930? A 1982 745i? A Volvo 850 Turbo? What is typical? Have you ever ridden in a turbo m20 powered car?If you want to talk about your product's characteristics, perhaps you could share some details about what makes your system behave differently than a typical turbo.
Our setup is not just thrown together. The turbo is carefully chosen. The exhaust is properly sized to reduce lag.
Consider this, the engine is totally on song at about 3700/3800rpm. Full boost, on cam, really happy, big power. It is like that all the way to the rev limiter. How often in a track event would you ever be much below that rpm? Even if you were the car is very easy to drive.
Turbo lag just isn't an issue. Please remember that I drive these cars every day. Not just this one but a turbo 5,6,7 and 3. My comments are my personal opinion from actual driving not speculation about what it would be like. I might sound like a bastard but my comments are never made off the cuff.

Absolutley. The Motronic is the weak link in the system. We are developing a chip to modify the timing curves which will help but the ecu nevers knows that the engine is seeing pressure.Could gains be achieved if one used a tcd kit with a stand alone system or piggyback?
My guess is that a stand alone is worth 50-60rwhp because it will allow strict management of the engine operation and hence the ability to run higher pressures! I am not so sure about a piggy back.

Nice.
Todd,
What does the m30 turbo kit make? and on what kind of boost?
Is there a difference between the early and late m30 kits?Comment

m30b34 non intercooled 12/13psi ~275rwhpWhat does the m30 turbo kit make? and on what kind of boost?
Is there a difference between the early and late m30 kits?
m30b34 intercooled 13/14psi ~315rwhp
m30b34 intercooled 17/18psi ~355rwhp
m30b35 non intercooled 10psi ~280rwhp
m30b35 intercooled 13/14psi ~335rwhp
No difference in the kits. Each motor makes diiferent power levels but these numbers are a good rule of thumb.

When are you bringing Turbo Chips for M20 on market, please, put me down on the list!
I swear man, when I installed turbo and started it up, it felt same as it used to, I thought it was going to give me some problems, and I was kind of ready for it, pulled out of the garage, and it was smooth as it was before, hit the throttle, just took off but I didn't floor it because my gauge was off, and didn't know what boost I was running, now I installed new 15PSI gauge, running 4.5-5.0 PSI for now, and car feels great, boost comes on at around 2300RPMS and gets in full boost at 2900-2950RPMS, and it's so much easier to drive daily, you don't have to floor it to pass somebody, just little throttle, right away car starts to pull away real smooth and nice, it's unbelievable, you have to own one first to really say anything negative about it, still get same gas mileage if I keep my foot off from flooring!95' M3.
