If it were my gf, brakes would not be something I eff around with or try to cheap out on.

If it were my ex-gf, the car would have no brakes.

Just throw an extra ~$200 into some new front rotors.

All of the rotors are practical brand new as were the pads so no need to buy new.

Today I didn't do the front brakes too busy, so I installed the front window chrome and took it for another spin!

Really, I always have even my brand new rotors turned as well. You would be amazed at how a new set is is not close to being true out of the box. And I am not talking cheap rotors either, I am using brembo evo e30 M3 rotors from Bimmerworld, and even they were out about 2mm. BMW actually recommends turning new rotors before installing.

Atomic did you just agree with me  thats a first and I think that was the first time you ever gave advice in one of my threads :pimp:

We also turn new rotors and give them all nondirectional finishes.

Okay I did the front brakes today!

              And now its inspected!!! :D:p

Monday I will get it registered and the title transferred!

And Wed ill give her the car!!!

It is weird the break light check light is on when you start the car then once you press on the brake it turns off, or if you push the check button,,, wonder why it is on when I start it?

Also I was driving back from inspection and my speedo all of a sudden cut out so I pulled the cluster and checked for a speed sensor signal which I was getting all the way to the speedo, so I first thought it was the speedo that was the problem but then I noticed if I wiggle the speedo it will work intermitently, which is when I found that the + prong that connects to the speedo it self had a cracked solder. So I gave it a fresh drop of solder and that fixed my speedo problem! I bet this is why my speedo in my 91is works intermitently and that is why when it isn't working and I hit the dash it starts to work. Ill take pics when I fix this on my 91is.

Now I need to read my owners manual to figure out how to turn km in to miles on the obc.

How long have you owned an E30? Every E30 with a check panel does this when you start it. Glad to hear you got the "breaks" finished.

Are you sure?? it seems weird that the light comes on when you start the car, to me it should only be on if there is a problem.

And my 91is doesn't have a check panel so I have no experience with one.

Oh ya and to change to mpg you have to push AVG MPG then the reset button.

Just went downstairs and did it on my 86 eS. Range and reset did the trick. I thought I gave you wrong advice and was going to apologize, but it worked. Weird.

I love how you're confused when the car functions properly.

the brake light comes on because it has no way to check if the brake lights work unless there is current going to it. it's just a safety thing. once it sees that the brake lights do actually function, it turns off and everything is well
