so, like in head porting you are only going out to the max size you can to maintain the velocity, then trying to get more speed by having a slightly rough or textured interior surface. by having the "rough" surface you maintain a thin layer of "air" on the outside of the OD of the runner, air flows faster over air than a hard surface

So like back to the original subject...keep in mind that marketing will outsell performance every day.

there is no doubt of that, or the damn CAIs would not be so prolific.

        Closing SOON!

 Actually making the ports smaller in some cases.

Of course alot of this goes out the window when we're talking forced induction.

Post some kind of real numbers. Or maybe exactly stock as delivered 20 years ago is so perfect there can be NO improvements.

i remember trying to explain that to people when i was "porting and polishing" cyl heads on the side of extra cash.

"why is the head only opened up to the gasket size?"

because it doesn't need to be any bigger for you application

"but Jim bob has a BIG welded ports in his, and when he nails it ,it goes fast and DRINKS LOTS OF GAS. it really comes on strong once you get the RPMs up there, let me tell you"

unless you drive like a tard, you will be just as fast if not faster, have power all the way through the RPMs, use less gas them Jim bob, and still have a bottom end.

if you don't like it, bring it to me and let me tune it, you can drive it again, if you are still not happy, i will do another set for free if you supply the heads and i will sell yours for you and give you the $$.

never had to take back a single head, it is some common sense, some science and physics, and a little bit of VOODOO mixed together

No by far from perfect 20 years ago there were a lot of things we didn't know then, and a lot of things that weren't practical.

For instance multi pintle injectors are a vast improvement over the older single pintle ones.

Software changes because our understanding of what's really happening has improved.

But just making a bigger hole is 50's technology.

EDIT: Oh the numbers... My 318is daily driver puts about 140hp to the ground and gets about 35mpg on the open road...

FrankenKar on the other hand sucks gas at 22mpg but puts 188 to the wheels naturally aspirated.

Double edit: They both pass emissions cleaner than original..

this is rediculous. Youre talking about velocity before air gets to the runners? you must have vacuum and boost mixed up. that or you lost me at the beginning.
You're gonna need to post some real numbers because you can talk about "evolution" until your gums bleed and i still wouldnt back up a claim like velocity at the AFM is more important than volume. Todays bimmers have short thick windpipes.
Velocity induces turbulance, which is probably in your previous statement, but turbulance means less volume. more volume means more fuel. inducting turbulance where gas atomization happens could be a good thing. But again, that what happens outside the TB is irrelevant.
The best way to move more is to make it move slower. The slower it moves, the less turbulant it will become.
If youre seriously thinking youre on to something, run it back by because I must have missed it.

the faster its going when it gets to the runners the faster it will be through the runners

                          Hmm interesting.

So what if you run a nice CAI from, say, the brake duct, through a nice filter thats heatshielded, and then with your high flow elbow contraption

Logically thatd seem to be some good air

'cept for sucking in water i guess
