so going back to my question.... can Renault apply for some sort of appeal?

Yes. PROBATION. The ruling is that they get no punishment unless they are found guilty of another incident of this magnitude over the probation period. IF they are found guilty of such an occurrence, then they would be banned for 5 years.
This might seem crazy, but I wouldn't be too surprised if the Singapore police blocked Renault's transporters from entering the paddock tomorrow. I believe the govt. is still considering prosecution for endangering the lives of citizens.

I don't see any reason to appeal a non-punishment.

No. My understanding is that Renault is completely off the hook (save for the probation & $1.6m in legal fees) and that Pat Symonds is banned for a couple of years. Flavio is to have no part in any form of FIA-sanctioned events. Ever. Not even as a spectator. Not only that, but he cannot represent any FIA-licensed drivers as a manager since they will not renew the FIA Superlicense to any driver represented by him. His role as football club owner is under review as well (if you fixed one sporting event, why wouldn't you fix another?)
They've effectively castrated him. Heidi Klum is secretly pleased.

I can understand the confusion. The wording is: "the WMSC has decided to suspend Renault F1’s disqualification until the end of the 2011 season. The World Motor Sport Council will only activate this disqualification if Renault F1 is found guilty of a comparable breach during that time."
Basically, the French court ruled that unless Renault rams another car into a barrier located in front of a bunch of spectators in order to throw a race and/or championship within the next two years, it can carry on as usual.

ING ends relationship with Renault effective immediatly....
That didnt take too long.
I would be surprised if Renault does not pull out of F1, they are going to have a hell of a time finding a sponsor who wants to be associated with them.Last edited by naplesE30; 09-24-2009, 03:06 PM.

I like the cars with all the livery on them,,,, I think the brawns are terrible looking as plain as they are.
Kimi is just doing what hes supposed too. Did he look misserable at Monza on the podium or what. Funny how everyone knows he is done at Ferrari, (even if they ran 3 cars he would not be driving for them) but he still wont/cant admit it.
Alonso and Massa ought to be an exciting combo as neither driver will back down for the other. Led to some fun times at McLaren last time FA was not the clear number one.
