I bought one from amazon which according to the mfr whose name was on it, was a counterfeit. Good luck at HD :)

You could try it if you're brave - might be fine!

I rolled the dice on a counterfeit (Ebay special) "OEM" starter motor in my car 6 years ago and it has been good. Of course, quality control is probably sketchy so you could also get a bad one.

I wouldn't try it for any critical parts that might kill you or the car though. eg. front control arms / brakes etc.

Pretty sure they diversified to capture a bit of random search $ and to cater to contractors who use HD lines of credit.

That appears to be a Dorman part, a big generic parts manufacturer. They probably just uploaded a big spreadsheet of all their stuff to homedepot.com to follow the Amazon model of selling everything on a single site. I know Walmart is gunning hard for Amazon and have allowed third party sellers on their walmart.com site, just like Amazon.

Dorman gives auto repair professionals and vehicle owners greater freedom to fix cars and trucks by focusing on solutions first.

I would only consider Home Depot for E30 parts if I had gift cards from there that I needed to use. Sometimes I get those gift cards but need nothing from there.
