Nope, that was just directed at our usual moderator. It's something he said in one of his YT videos. Also, in a perverse way, dislikes may help promote a YT video to some degree.
Criticism still drives people away, just like mint84325e, who just decided to quit the forum after I voiced an opinion he did not like. Some people, no matter how old, just cannot take what they percieve as criticism for whatever reason. Although it does seem more likely that I was correct since he left the way he did.
Does anyone even visit this forum anymore??

I miss the simpler times when we were mostly just dumb kids (at least at heart) having fun with cheap and plentiful cars. Now everyone is either an up and coming influencer with and EPIC build and brand (smash that like button) or a dollar chasing flipper pushing the dream further out of reach for others.
/nostalgia
Many things in life have changed, lust for the e30 remains the same.

^ Has there been some sort of renaissance regarding dislikes? Is (constructive) criticism no longer considered hating? That would be something.Leave a comment:

There will always be room for forums like this. Fb/reddit suck. The major media/publication companies always put out underwhelming content. I have been learning blacksmithing lately and I have had to swim through a sea of mediocre guide until I found one that actually answered my question about anvils. These little guys always do good work but they are harder to find.Last edited by KarlieBoeBoe; 02-26-2021, 03:41 PM.Leave a comment:

Facebook is pleb filtering for us, we get fewer dumbasses on forums now because most of them stick to that irredeemably garbage site.Leave a comment:

After the “This is Porn” thread got deleted I lost all hope in R3v (Jk). But I do miss the shit talking on the dorks (for example, the kid that “poped” his tire and crashed into that residential home, then someone found the address & delivered pizza, LOL).
But in all seriousness, after starting my career in 2016 the e30 lifestyle faded quite a bit for me. Now that I recently obtained an e30 M3 my passion has come back quite a bit. I will eventually start a thread for both of my e30s.Leave a comment:

I do. Frequently. And hopefully I'll be starting another build thread soon. But it won't be a truck build thread, unfortunately. ;-)
I've only been around for a little over 5 years, but thanks to this forum I've learned a ton, I've met some great people, and I've made some great friends.Leave a comment:

Not surprised. The s14 is lighter and makes almost as much HP as the s50 lol. Coupled with the close ratio and high ratio diff, they are probably more evenly matched than expected.
And yeah, after posting about age, realized my youngest of 4 kids wasn't even born when I signed up, the oldest was 8 - now he is shopping for a car and the oldest already graduated college - over a year ago!!! 0.o
the s50 has a flatter torque curve and an overdrive transmission with longer gears. the s14 is always in the powerband with the CR box (and 3.23 M-Coupe differential) and pulls HARD all the way to 8k. i think the m3 would be faster off the line til probably about 70 or so. the s50 car definitely feels quicker from about 70 onward, where the longer gears really come into play.
time flies - it's even weirder when your clients have kids and then they start coming to you for service (i'm sure you can relate to that, haha)Leave a comment:

good lord, man, you're old!!!!! lolol. it's hard to believe how much of my life i've spent on here. i've been reading the posts here since 2009, but was a timid fella and never felt the urge to register until 2010 (didn't have anything really to add). this site, and mye28, really gave me concrete thick skin. it was a good way to be introduced to the real world, i think.
it's funny, i went and drove my red s50 car this morning. it feels slow to me anymore. my e30m3 with a CR (dogleg) box feels faster - hard to say if it really is, but the gearing and that rev happy little engine makes all the difference in the world. time is a funny thing. hahahah

Simon, I swear I sat down yesterday evening to finally start my cluster fuck of cars thread and I couldn't even load r3v
I will try again tonight after work...
I agree with us being on top of our own threads would help new people stick around.Leave a comment:
