I find the A/C taxes the cooling system dramatically when in stop go traffic so if you don’t have AC then you have more freedom and tolerance for a electric fan conversion. Plus also lack of condenser helps to

yeah the stock A/C fan worked fine as the main cooling fan for me, I don't have AC in my car anymore. I didn't have the setup to use a PWM controller though, which if I had at the time I would have left it electric. but the clutch fan is easy and definitely works fine so I don't bother.Comment

That's very cool! I had not seen that. I'll never forget the wire colors and don't do too many valve adjustment these days.
Or make a remote starter trigger with the correct plug and never have to remember the pins again:

You would want to be very careful with that. One false move leaving your car in gear (applies to manuals only i guess) and it could end quite badly. I had an incident along these lines a few years ago, I do not touch my ignition switch unless I am sitting in the car.Comment

The stock viscous fan doesn't really rob any power. We saw .4 whp difference on the dyno, which is in the normal margin of error from back to back runs anyways.
What we DID see rob power was the little horn in the air box. If that's not in front of the AFM, you lose ~5whp. So, all those guys who buy chips (+~8whp) then add a cone filter are just basically making more noise.Comment

The one inside the box that provides a povo bell mouth that removes the sharp edge of the rectangular opening. It may be there to tune the length a bit as well.
the stock airbox can be easily bested if you get rid of the ingesting of hot air and the AFM limiting CSA89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Cross sectional area
For a given flow ( power) the bigger the pipe the less important the bellmouth. Sharp edges reduces the effective diameter. Some cone filters have radius bell mouth built in89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

If you have room, yes a horn will help flow quite a bit. When vacuuming a bare head on the flow bench, the air will stall at a specific CFM unless I have clay around the port. Same thing happens at the end of a pipe.Comment

yeah, even if you don't have an AFM, you still want that bell mouth if you're using a factory airbox.Comment
