    Honestly, I think it's the kind of car that people plan on keeping but then life gets in the way. I know the previous two owners really put a lot of work into it and put love and passion into making it a clean car.

    I don't think a police officer would even recognize that it is not the stock engine unless they're into E30's. It looks completely factory under the hood. I will ask my cousin or her husband, they are both police officers where I live.

    I think as long as I don't drive like a jackass, any cop is going to think it's some old Bimmer with an exhaust. :D

    Until you get stopped and popped, there's really no need to get BAR'd. I have never had a cop ask me to pop my hood but then again they aren't really looking for stolen/illegal engines in old BMW's. Not yet at least.

    Wrong, you still gotta smog the car. Bar just means its a legal swap and you can take the car in for smog with that engine. We smog in CA every two years.
