Okay, lets split it up here....... People who love to drive and to do it with something a little different to the right.
And all the purists with their tightly wound s14's,,,,,,, I'm sure there is a wrench out in your garage that is feeling a little left out that you are'nt with it right now.Anonymity on the internet is courage for the people who have none. You know who you are.Comment

Not that it's a big difference but I've always known US M50's to be rated at 189HP. Did the vanos M50's have 192? In regards to people being brave for swapping engines on E30 M3's, I think it's the other way around. It takes balls (and money) to keep it in and mod it for power than it is to get rid of it completely and dump another engine in (easy way out). Everybody has their goals and opinions on how to attain them though. Both engines have their issues. I've seen a bunch of M50/S50's in the shop with cracked/warped heads from overheating issues, or overrevs, bad coil(s), DME's, so let's not get into that. With the value of S14's vs M50's I could see how one would swap over though."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

The M50 (assuming full trim and stock flywheel, a/c, etc) is 427 pounds vs 345 for the S14, I don't know what they allow you to remove in stock class, but those are the figures for a complete engine.
I don't know if this question was answered in the thread, but can you run a 2.5 M50/E30 M3 in J-stock? Is it legal? How about an aluminum block M52? That would bring the weight to ~375.
Cool video I guess, but there are a lot better ways I would have used the tires, and i hope you guys don't have any driveline issues once it gets on track!Comment

LIGHTEN up guys - Donuts are fun. If you want a car that's strictly business, more power to you - but as soon as it's not fun for me, I'm out.Comment

Why all this talk about *whimper* the tires, or *whimper* the driveline? How many of you go out there and go mmm, no, I shouldn't do a donut - might mess up my driveline. Or, shit, if I do some donuts, these tires are worthless - and even though I can put another pair on because I own a race shop and it's not that big a deal, there's no real reason to do it....

scott, stu has his opinion, and deal with it after changing your tampon
Donuts are a good time for everyone I know - maybe you hardcore fuh raze track snobs think they're too childish, but I certainly don't. We just did a bunch today in Mark's 318i vert today - it was a shitload of fun. Maybe I should go buy a fucking Camaro - those guys aren't little whiney bitches about donuts.
What the fuck are you gonna break or destroy - besides tires - by doing donuts?Comment
