So you are saying you cannot own a car that looks good and drive it at the same time? Jesus crist man, a good car needs to look good and drive good. Sure you can have a beater car and still win, but why not look good and win at the same time?
Im sure everyone here with near perfect cars still love to give them hell when the time is right. Dont see why else anyone would want to own a E30? I get some odd looks sometimes with my car. But its clean, original paint, and it RWD. Its a lot of fun, and i plan to auto x and race it in targa here. But i plan on making the car look as good on the outside as it does on the inside.
Point is, im not driving a $3000 dollar car that looks like a piece of shit let alone be one.. I mean, its bad enough im driving an old school bimmer, who everyone thinks you bought just becuase you want to say you own a BMW.. I would of bought an e36 if that were the case. I just think, for the money you save on buying these cars you can afford to make them look decent. Most e30's around now would look much nicer with a $200 detail job from Macco or wherever..

I hated it when the concept was first broached before the accident, then after it came out so well I was really thinking fuck it I am keeping it. But the truth is it was time. I enjoyed it for 15+ years and am lucky to have gotten what I wanted & sent it to a good home. I am sure I will some day own another e30 hopefully in the not too distant future. I am looking into importing a touring from Germany as it is much easier to import cars from countries other than the US. into Mexico.

Right on. I bought a car last year I hoped to make into a track car - after I got it, I discovered that it had terminal cancer - rust was creeping into structural areas of the car. So I sold it right away - it was not a good candidate.

I now have another one, and while it has a couple cosmetic flaws which are being fixed, the chassis is sound, frame rails are solid - zero rust in the floor and rockers. And it won't see a track, much less an auto-x parking lot until I get all of the suspension solid and replaced (some original parts are still on there now!). Brakes are getting done over, etc.

I jokingly call it a rat, because I am not worried about it being pretty, but dont mistake "track rat" for taking a ratty old car to the track. That's a really bad idea.

Man, I wish I had a piece of shit car to drive daily. 1, because I dont really care what people think, and 2, I wouldnt get my car any worse. My car is not perfect, but I worry constantly about dents, damage, potholes, getting broken in to, stolen wheels, door dings. I care when it happens to my car, but if I had a car that looked like ass I wouldnt even give a shit.
