So he's gonna give me $125 for em and I'll buy some euro weaves if I can find some. Plus I don't like bottlecaps. So I think on some euros and suspension is cheap and looks nice, then once I do that, pick up a 3.73 LSD (to get rid of my 2.93 open) and fix my shifter (my dad said he'd take care of that for me) I'm gonna save up for my motor swap, and then I'm gonna try and see if I can sell my M20B27 to get some cash back on the deal, even if it is only a couple hundred bucks. And quick question for EuroE30, did your G260 bolt straight up to the M30? And can you run the M20 clutch on it? Or should I upgrade it, I was thinking about grabbing an E36 M3 clutch, just because I know it can handle any power I throw at it.

Dad buying bottlecaps = $$$ in your pocket = good plan

Id start doing research before doing any drivetrain mods because the G260 wont bolt to a M30, it will bolt to any 24v though ;)

Theres plenty of info on either swap you do, for now Id focus on making sure the M20 doesnt grenade itself (timing belt), get the suspension done and then start saving. It will be a fun platform to start out, my first E30 was a zinno ES.

I've already started making sure it doesn't, plugs, oil change and filter, bout to do cap and wires, timing belt getting ordered this weekend, coolant flush this weekend. And yea it'll bolt to a 24v but can it handle the S52s power? Aren't they only rated at 260hp? (Hence G260). So I'd need a ZF. And like I said, I have time, I'd like to pick up a motor in June. So I have some time to think it out.

I'm not sure about the g260 bolting up to a m30 I think they is use g250. My engine came with a tranny and if I was you I'd source one with a tranny to then all you would need is the 87 325e drive shaft. If you get a m30 out of an e34 you won't have to swap oil pans to clear the steering. If you are set on a m30 swap go to the m30 section and get frank m's guide it's like 15 bucks but is more then worth it.

Ok I'll have to look at it, and it has to be an 87 325e driveshaft only? Why is that?

The 87 325e and the 88 325 bolt up perfectly for some reason an its only those.

260/6 tranny is what many people use.

Also I believe sone late '86 model driveshafts work. The reason is they require a larger guibo and have larger flanges required to bolt up to the tranby

When you say "88 325" do you mean all 88 platforms? Or just the 325 badging? And if I do a 24v do I need to do any more swapping like driveshafts etc?

I believe 24v need drive shafts as well idk if there is one you can swap in or if it needs shortend. By 88 325 I mean an 88 with just 325 badging not an 325is.

I think they need shortened now that you mention it, but to re ask my previous question, can the 260 handle the S52s power? I don't have to end up grenading my tranny and risking causing damage to my motor in the process.

I wouldn't trust it I'd find a zf tranny to use.

g260 would hold the s52 just fine. boosted m20's FLG, Kamotors, Tacoman all tapping 400hp....stock g260. Gearing in the zf is different, so it may not like the diff you have. most guys that run a zf in a 24v swap drop down to a low 3.xx numbered diff.

Did not know that. Are they running a stock clutch? I didn't really get very far in researching 24v swap as you sold me on the m30.

I mean if I'm assured that I won't damage the motor if the trans goes, I'll use the 260 till it let's go, then buy a ZF, but if there's even a chance of it happening, I'll just pull it and drop a ZF.
