The wood was the definite in my plans - we picked the modena because it helped complement it. The wheel I bought overseas a few years ago, the handle I stole on ebay fo 8 bucks (factory z3) and the shift knob was a gift this christmas from my gf - she hand picked it from BavAuto :)Originally posted by E30 Wagensweet. I'm loving the wood accents and those seats look comfy.
What's with that front speaker panel cover? It looks like it matches the carpet? I've never seen on like that, always just dash color it seems.
As for the speaker covers - the interior was completely "tan" before - I'm assuming that's why they are too. They'll get a nice paint job shortly - just one thing on my short list for the summer.
Thanks Dan - coming from someone that got to sit in them, that's good feedback :)Originally posted by DanGillanthey hold you in tight as hell, im torn on the look, but the seats are fucking comfortable. i'd love a set of black cloth ones in my car (tightly recovered of course) :) good shit man.
I considered doing the door inserts (middle sections) in modena, but I think it'd be too much modena - too busy. The all black door cards, black dash, and black center, with black floor mats and eventually black carpet, they really set off the seats.Originally posted by Ray SmoodiverScott, do the door cards and i'll review.
Thanks Adam - they're very comfortable - though some extra padding will be added to take up the slack and provide a better fitting look. I refused to do an interior like everyone else, even though I know black seats would have looked great. Too hot with the top down - and just overdone ;) I'd rather be different! Besides, this is brand new leather - that feeling alone is hard to beat :)Originally posted by KangamangusDriverIt's original, I like it. Looks very comfortable, now dont fall asleep while driving in those suckers!
Separates the car from others, plus its custom.
Haha, it is, I suppose. Like I said, once the extra material is fitted better, things will look a lot less Merc and a lot more Bimmer.Originally posted by hamann318isI love the recliner look. Mercedes-ish I'd say?
The seats are E21 recaros, btw.
My car is Royalblau, but will most likely go a bit darker to a mauritiusblau or something similar - though it looks great with the royalblau.Originally posted by MikeKthat looks nice, i've always been a fan of Modena on E36s... what color is ur car?Comment

Gonna take some today - finally stopped raining!Originally posted by vladpost some more pics, looks like an interesting project
I'm really impressed with the response I'm getting from this - I was SURE there'd be a flame fest. Thanks guys - as I said, I love it, and that's all that matters - but to see others like it to, that's a bonus ;)Comment

Adding more foam to tighten the leathe seems like a band-aid fix, can't you tighten the leather at all?
Are you going to recover a back seat in matching leather? What color is the back seat now?Comment

It looks too loose. After you stuff it it should look a bit better. Did you diy?Comment

Those seats look like my grandpa.
If you could tightern up the leather a bit they will be titties though.

Not a fan at all, but will not bash as I would not welcome bashing on the new interior that I am working on for my e30vert. There is too much leather material in all of the pieces that have been cut and thats what gives it that saggy look. To fix that correctly one needs to remove the entire covers and unstitch the individual pieces and then cut them back a bit and restitch. ALot of work to do it that way! To overstuff the existing seats is not an easy task as one has to add just enough padding in areas that need it and then hog ring it back on tight. This method almost always causes gathering and puffiness in some areas and droops in others.
Hope you did not pay the trim shop much for that work. Good luck on getting it sorted.

Ditto, they will look good once the leather is tightened up.Originally posted by golde30color looks cool, but the floppy leather look reminds me of a retired old man sunbathing...
Im not diggin the steering wheel though, first off wood dosnt belong in e30s, and second wood steering wheels look ugly in any car.Rollin' with a GeistkuchenComment
