tell them to give you a call when their cars hit 180k or 200k and let you know how their cars are running. Next time someone says anything, look at them and say "it's a bmw" or just take it in stride and make a joke out of it. When you get that car dialed in you will be amazed at how many compliments you get. I stopped at a dealership to look at the new 3 series when it came out and when I walked back to my car there wer six guys standing around it. I though they were looking at the m3 next to my car but they were'nt. All salesmen, 5 were bmw 1 was lexus. They started talking about my car when the lexus guy was like, "where do you live?" when I told him I lived @ 40 miles away he asked if I was worried about making it home. Well I was going to say something but all 5 bmw sales men ganged up on him pointing to the motor and saying things about how reliable it was and how it was the platform for modern bimmers, and how he didn't know what he was talking about. That's the only negative thing I have heard. Kids in your school aren't worried for your safety, they just want to say some shit. Don't listen to them!

mm.. good advice, take it in pride. Hey, i still drive a bimmer.

someone did make a comment when i walked by my car (as we were walkin to his) and i pointed and said "look at that sexy beast"

he said something about me buying it for the badge.. and ij ust said "the fact you know jack diddly about cars makes me not even want to respond to that lame comment"-- i was pretty impresed with myself, and shit his face up tight.

Looks like a good start. I would definately scratch off the "body kit" from your list. I like the IS as is with a bumper tuck.

don't really want a body kit

agree fully on the IS, however i think some sideskirts and a rear apron of some sort would look good int he long run (the car seems front-heavy when u look at the side).

I"m not a ricer though, so expect something clean, barely noticeable..

looks are not my top prioroity.. suspension is. Think I finally go tmy setup together so needa buy the last remaining pieces and install it.

thanks for the compliments/advice guys.. very appreciated.

Nothing installed yet, but gonna be doing some maintenence work before buying the rest of my suspension setup. So far have front/rear sways, front adjustable end links, front camber plates, and front strut tower bar.

I really like the '87 IS model, even more than the I like the later models with the new bumpers. And especially like them in white--you have a really good find there. It's an awesome car. And $1800? I've spent $1300 on my cabrio this month--great price!

And fuck those guys with the Monte Carlo and the Explorer; both those cars were better off in their iron-ore state.
