Yeah I should be able to do it myself anyway il just clock it in on a lathe and take a couple thou off. I am not really sure on the age so I guess it could be really old. But I'm curious is there a minimum height on the step to show when it's too worn? Or am I over thinking it

Things are starting to come together I'm just impatient on the shell side of things!

Should have an update as of tomorrow as I'm spending the day on it

Today I've been working on the rear panel: boot floor joins using this...

First clean but tacked on pretty much have to replace the whole line and the corners!

Then I gave my oil cooler a coat of etch and satin black..

There is method behind my madness and it went against what I thought to be logical but they run more efficiently in black... And it looks way better!

Curious to see your solution for plumbing the oil cooler to the engine.

Are you not running an oil cooler? I'd be worried about getting the oil temps too hot with all that boost!
I haven't got as far as figuring it out and I haven't removed the oil filter housing I'd normally just think a sandwich plate from alloy would do the trick.

Nope. There's no way for me to do it. The adapters others have made are all fairly simple but I do not have access to the tools necessary to fab anything up. It's a street car anyway, I doubt I will ever push the oil temps high enough to worry about them.

Just been in to BMW to pick up the rear corner panels. I can't believe how easy and fast they can get parts for these cars! It makes life so much easier.

                  My next plans are--

Finish patching the boot floor join
Refit the corners and rear panels
Fit the panel to replace the old fuel tank
Get two fuel pumps a swirl pot and filter and figure placement
Work on strut tops and check out mounting strength

There is a much longer list but that's the next plan of attack

.011 step up. Remove starter ring, knockout alignment pins from the back. The hot spots are now hardened so they will always be a little higher. You can remove a ot of weight from the back side. Leave .025 lip from the starter ring and cut straight down. You can save around 3lbs just. Follow the bevel and remove from there and take another 3lb off. 323i is 13lb and the the us spec is 18lb. Take it down to 13lb and you should be in the money.
