    hottest pics ever

okay, not really, just some pics of my project.

my car has driven its last mile as an automatic:

after the swap I'm thinking of running this badge:

I got the front suspension off in the time it took my friend to wash his car:

    the "new" block:

86mm bore, 81mm stroke, 10:1 compression, blah blah blah. :)

tell me about it! I've only been working on this project since october of last year... finishing up school was a big focus for most of that time though. ;)

              Cool project.

              Skip the m3 badge though.

it's a slight incline, but it's flat enough and the gravel is compacted there. it'll be fine. :)

Dude, lets hear some details! I knew you were doing the tranny swap but what else is going on? New suspension? New engine?

Wheres the Rieger lip? Fuck, talk about stepping up the bar for iX owners!

I'm replacing the engine, tranny, driveshafts, & steering rack. suspension will stay the same, although I'd like a set of fatter swaybars.

having a hell of a time getting my main bearings though.. argh!

oh yeah, the rieger lip is in the garage.. I'll probably slap it back on when the swap is all buttoned up. it's just a pita to get under the car with it hanging so low.

So the suspension came off to change the driveshafts then?

no, to pull the motor. awd bimmers have the front driveshafts go through the oilpan for a more compact setup. I'm putting in a rebooted shaft from the parts car on the passenger side because my headers melted my old one. :(

So are you going to pull the engine out the top or drop it out the bottom?
, oh and have fun removing the tranny, it is a blast, weighs a shit ton., The most fun is using the 50" of extensions you need to get the top tranny bolts.

                            Good luck!, and Congrats.

I'm not removing the tranny in the car, that would be a nightmare! I'm pulling the entire engine/tranny out from the top, and dropping the new ones in. the subframe must be dropped for this, but that's no biggie as I have the one from the parts car all cleaned up and ready to go with a new rack, engine mounts etc. :)
