Hovering around 32 at the moment. My friends have nicknamed the car the E30,000.

Damn man, thats alot of cash in an e30. My cars pretty mint and its only got about 5500 in it. Not saying it compares to an mtech, but 25 large is a BIG difference in cost.

There's a difference though. Your car is 15 years old and "mint" and James' car has literally been restored from the ground up. His car has more new parts than you could ever imagine and is pretty much a brand new car.

Don't get me wrong, $30,000 is insane on an E30 but James loves it so oh well. :)

I agree with what you say but it's very hard to explain to someone who hasn't done a restoration on a car or a motor swap, etc... Also, spending that much cash is out of reach for most of the people, their mentality is that it's ok to spend 30k on a generic, boring, ugly but reliable camry. To spend 17k on a 20 year old e30 is insane UNLESS you are hard core enthusiast, crazy fanatic or simply a lunatic in love with an e30 :D

I spent more than twice of that on my e30 but I wouldn't have it any other way, even if I was offered 2 brand new camrys. Hell, I was offered new e46 330 +10k cash for my m3 so what? Not everything is about the money. Unless you know what it takes to build such a car, you will never understand and that is ok. If everybody understood, our streets would be flooded with e30s packing M5 motors LOL...

I think that car is worth the money but that is just my opinion because I know what it takes to build such car.

Also, if anybody has problems with my posts you can add me to your ignore list and not go thru the future problems of looking into the rules, seeing whether or not I crossed the line.

                  Thanks

Exactly, its really hard to explain, and sometimes it hard to convince myself I did the right thing.

Shit, with the amount of money i've put into mine i could be driving an E39 M5, but everytime I get into my car I still am convinced I did the right thing..

E30 Lunatic reporting for duty

The car is almost completed, once it is done I will post it here along with the backstory.

But in a nutshell, its a 1986 325IS Mtech1 replica, fully restored from the ground up, everything wearable replaced, and pretty much every euro option obtained and installed. Using as many OEM BMW parts as possible.

                        =)

Im surrounded by these tools at work. I tell them I have two BMWs and their eyes light up like theyre my new best friends because Im loaded. Then I tell them combined theyre 46 yrs old, theyre like "oh...". Then they try to brag about how they drive a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles TSX or Mustang GT. Fucking morons.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

You know what? You're right, I've always been under the impression the Mac's motor was the 'S88'.

                                I stand corrected.
