*** Editors Note: Yes, I know. This car has a beat paintjob. Nobody will argue that. So, why is this car of the month? Look at what Mitch has done, thats why. He took a beat, stock E30 and made it into a driver, and made it his and it will continue to evolve. Maybe someday it will have a nice paintjob to go with all the other cool stuff. This car deserves to be Car of the Month, and if you disagree, send me a message with a better choice. Congrats Mitch! - Simon

Story behind the car
I purchased the car in 2013 when I was 19 for the bargain price of $700. It started off mostly stock with a beat tan interior, toasted suspension components, and a few bizarre/poorly executed mods from the previous owner (like 6x9 speakers mounted to the rear deck using wood screws). Since then I've used things I wanted to do to the car as ways to teach myself different skills/techniques for building cars (fitting/flaring brake lines, trimming wiring harnesses, fabricating random one off pieces out of whatever material worked, fitting a roll bar, etc). Up to this point the car has been almost entirely garage built by me with occasional help from friends. The only major work outsourced so far has been powdercoating, exhaust fabrication, and alignments. When building the car my main goal was to emulate what joey at emotion engineering has done with his "project nasty" Porsche 911. I'm hoping that next winter I can button more things up on the car (like adding coilovers, and resealing the engine/trans to eliminate pesky leaks) and enter with the car in the Nevada silver state classic rally in the fall of 2018
