I think the M54 6 speed is perfect for the e30 (Thats what I want to do) but I don't even want to think of the nightmare it will be to get it CA legal. My Garage

well, when you learn you learn.... and just pay your friends and avoid the red tape... espeically with a M54. It could be made legal, but whats the pointSimon

~Somewhat related. I love SSR Type-C's and use to run them on my Subaru. They're some of my favorite wheels out there and insanely light!

SSRs are one of my favorite wheels. I can't wait to see them on your e30!Comment

Thanks guys. They are my favorite too, but here they dont get much love because everyone wants BBS wheels... I hate cleaning BBS wheels and I like to be different. I regretted not buying them when I was in high school and they were brand new. I didnt want to wait for them to get delivered from Japan so I bought some other BS wheels for my mk3 GTI VR6 (circa '99). When I bought my first E30, a 86 zinno ES and found these wheels relatively closeby, I knew I wanted them and I wasnt going to let them go easily. They went on the Aluminum Monster when I bought it and sold the ES, then I sold the Aluminum Monster with them, but told him I wanted them back if he ever bought new wheels. A month later, they are back with me :) I went through extra effort to get extra wheels and now have 5 that are all the same offset and size.
Unfortunately the studs didnt arrive today, so they will go on tomorrow. Also, Im going to weigh the outgoing 16x8 ESM wheels with the 205/50 Goodyear Eagle Tires and will also weigh the 16x7 SSR with the 225/45 Dunlop tires on them.
Any bets how much weight I will save per wheel? I have an ideaSimon

That's a pretty damn good guess. I was expecting in the 7-10 range also.
Shout out to Ryan Castro at motorsport hardware for getting this to me so quick I appreciate it

And now that I had my studs it was time to install the wheels let's do a before pic

And about 45 minutes later

And evidence of real weight difference
44#

37#

7# drop per corner. The theory is rotational mass is the equivalent of 3x the weight, so ~21# rotational massLast edited by 2mAn; 10-25-2017, 07:22 PM.Simon

Wow!! Looks phenomenal. We should meet up on a Saturday/Sunday and blackout our rocker panels/lower rear valences if you're down. :-)
