I know I currently have it bolted in what I’m confused about is where to hook it up the motor does not seem compatible with that style expansion tank. The tank is from the previous motor.

I don’t know where to hook up the black metal hose running down the middle. I just feel like after I work out these small kinks it should all be down hill from here. I want to drive!

87-IS had the early style cooling system, it looks like you have a later motor and later cooling system hose routing.

              What radiator are you using?

The one from the original motor. So most like the old style.

ok theres two things you need to do...

#1 go to your tapatalk settings and remove the signature and save that.

#2 go get your radiator and hoses that you have for it. you should be able to see the problem.

I’ll try. I thought I did it maybe didn’t save.
What do you mean? I had to put the old ones on because the hoses I bought from CA tuned for late model m20 was not lining up. As of now I’m under the impression that I just need to get the late model expansion tank or do I need a different radiator too?

the early and late cooling systems are different.

You can use all the old stuff, just have to put the early style water pump in also, but I support spending money on new parts, especially the cooling system

The rad and tank is all I should need right? I’m going over everything and I seems like that’s it. I already have late model hoses.

Theres a upper radiator support bracket you should get your hands on too, just to keep it 100% OEM. Not sure if the supports on the bottom are the same, but you'll know once you install it.
