Started her up right after install, checked for leaks, had to tighten one header bolt a little. Then test drive around the block, then checked underneath for leaks and any rubbing...all was well. The system goes together beautifully, exceptionally made, everything bolts up and fits together very well. When i got into e30s 25 yrs ago this was the dream exhaust, im very happy i was able to make it happen on this build. From the seat of the pants it feels livelier, pulls harder, so it picked up a bit of power as well. As far as sound, its still loosening up. Its a mellow deeper tone, and wakes up under load. Definately not as crazy as the Tubi system on my 996 C4S. At Idle she has a nice deep tone, you can actually hear the headers sound. At full chat its lovely. Highly recommend this exhaust.

Just realized its been way too long since i added some updates, and she has had a lot more done to her
After 25+ years of lusting for genuine Alpinas, was able to finally get her the proper shoes, including the spare:
I also splurged on my dream seats
added a genuine Alpina Typ 157 rear spoiler
Alpina deco set on front Typ 162 spoiler
And the piece d'resistance, RH ITBs, they are an awesome upgrade

Very well made and quality item, great support from Rama
Instructions are bit challenging and it takes time, patience and a bit of logic to assemble the kit (it comes very very disassembled) - watch the videos on Youtube, pay special attention to the way you join the throttle body shafts
installation is pretty straight forward, but you do need some extra items as the kit states - throttle cable, TPS, wideband O2 sensor, hoses, air filter, oil breather or catch can, clamps, zip ties, and especially the ITB syncing tool (you'll need it a lot)
I chose to pay a bit extra and go full plug and play, so i didn't have to cut up anything on my car, i ordered the Racehead adapter harness that works with the Ecumaster classic standalone ECU, and it was simple as unplug the stock Bosch ECU, and plug in the well made adapter to the harness and ECU Master ECU into the provided harness, and run three sensor wires through the fire wall (they unclip from the EC master ECU which makes it very easy to fish them through)
RH was kind to provide a base tune map - i specified what my engine already had - head work, injectors, exhaust, where I live - altitude - and what type of gas I run) and I loaded that, the car won't run without it as the injectors won't work otherwise
it started right away and ran great, awesome intake sound, very loud without the air box off, i tested it on a few pulls
I'm running the airbox and filter, and you have a great intake sound that overpowers my supersprint exhaust
Fitting the air box was tight but manageable, i had found my drivers side engine mount was a bit squished so replacing that gave me a bit of extra room, and had to just unbolt the connector harness on firewall behind brake booster for room, i also unbolted my strut brace, then after air box mounted reinstall harness and clip, and strut brace, brake booster is still stock and in stock location, and air box fits fine
I also removed my cruise control, I never use it
I've spent the last few weeks tweaking and playing with the ITB syncing, idle, etc.
As it loosened up and the parts moved a lot to do their thing, its very mechanical setup after all, I've had to go in and readjust a few times, some of the bolts worked loose too, so had to retighten them
finally go the ITBs to the correct vacuum setting and all aligned as best as I could, they are very close now, before when they were off a bit it popped and had backfires on the overrun
I've got the usual oil leaks now to address, bitch tube is fine, but my valve cover is leaking a bit
I'm running my stock ICV still, just open to atmosphere, and while idle is set good (at 1000 rpm or so) you still get variability in the idle speed at times
Overall i am very happy and glad i did it, wanted to build an M20 for a long time and the ITBs really compliment my head work, lumpy schrick cam and supersprint headers/exhaust
she really screams and revs like crazy, gotta be careful actually, as she will go well beyond 7000rpm and pulls hard
have started collecting stroker parts - S52 crank, 135mm forged rods and will order custom pistons
everyone seems to do swaps in e30s, all my local e30 buddies and club guys do, in fact in the family we have a few swaps as well - S50, S54, M30...
But I like the sound and old school feel of the M20 and wanted to go more of a period style of tuned car look and feel
