Heard from the Tauber guys today - engine was started for the first
    time today.... successfully

So hopefully I´ll be lapping the Nordschleife next week!

PS. The cylinders were honed ;)

Will do - it will probably be in the second half of August.

The guys at Tauber hope to have the engine in the car running by
Wednesday and they are going to drive it for a few days to make
sure everything is 100%. Only then I´ll fly over :D

Check this link for the Tauber site.

Thordur, you definitely did destroy that piston. And yes, glad that it didn't break appart completely. I'm also wondering why they didn't hone the cylinders :???:. Good oil saturation is nice to have in there :D.

Keep us updated, love your posts and cars!

Well I am not doing the work, I´m in Iceland and the car/shop is in
Germany. Why they didn´t hone the cylinders I am not sure - I´ll
ask the mechanic next time I speak with him.

It will be awesome in the end - trust me 8-)

I´m used to difficult births... had a similar problem when my
M5 was supercharged but then it was even worse because the
    block cracked
