Well I'll chime in and Josh can reiterate what to do with coloring the CF...
Originally posted by Mr. AndersonHe had the paint that he had his car painted with mixed with clearcoat, and then had the hood painted with it, so it tinted the clearcoat the color of the car. This was the single HOTTEST looking CF hood I've ever seen. I think this is exactly what you should do.
Josh has a picture of it somewhere as well. Its hotness.Last edited by M42Technik; 03-16-2007, 08:43 PM.Reminiscing...Comment

Congrats on the new stuff for your e30. I've been wanting a CF hood for quite some time (partially to offset the extra weight of the m30), and your pics just made me want one even more.
Don't forget to stitch the gearshift boot and handbrake boot in a similar manner to the way the wheel is done, it'll make the look more 'complete'.This is your M20 on steroids:Comment

sorry, I used testors gloss red.
I'd thought about the semi-transparent paint idea, but on the bright silver that my car is I think it would look darker, like the paint on the hood doesn't match or something. maybe I'll run the idea past my painter though and see what he says.Comment

wish I could afford that isht. I went with an IE fiberglass hood since I was going to paint it anyway. The weight is awesome but the IE part is "race quality"
That thing looks absolutely stunning!Comment

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
okay, so I did hit something - an SUV. :( It was back in December, close to Christmas. I was headed to a friends house, in the left lane of the freeway.. lots of traffic, everyone was finishing up their christmas shopping. ended up boxed in, people were cutting other people off in front of me, traffic suddenly came to a dead stop, and I had nowhere to go but a concrete wall or the back of an SUV. I wasn't speeding, I wasn't tailgating, or doing anything dumb. But even if I had been able to stop, I'm pretty certain I would have been rearended anyway. it sucks, but I got enough money from insurance to repair the car and get some things I've wanted for a long time - in the end my car will be a bit nicer.
so now that some actual work on the car has been completed, I'll post pics.
the good:
eurostyle rieger lip and mtech2 rear valance (these peices are very well made)
I don't have a picture, but I also got a new set of hella smoked ellipsoids from www.abrahamsmotorsport.com, a flexalite 2100cfm electric fan, and euro trim
the bad:
no, I didn't get a moonroof. ;)
the ugly:
It missed my bumper completely, and basically took out the hood and grille area. it didn't damage the motor at all either (it was still running after the accident). the frame wasn't bent at all, but the core support was beyond wasted. it cost $450 to have the new one put in & everything straightened out.
as far as the hood, the guys at the body shop commented that usually these things don't fit very well, but this one was very well made. take that VIS! ;)
I expect paint to be done in a week or so, then I have a couple mecanical things to take care of, and I'll finally be able to drive my car after more than 3 months!Comment

It always does that, cuz youre under hard braking, and the bumper heights nowadays are higher than before. Especially if its lowered. Its happened to me once.
