Friday we finally got some time to clean up the car. We started by removing the side moldings and rear trunk lip so we could clean underneath them. I wanted to remove the side skirts and flares but it proved to be too much of a job at the time, and people on here have told me it's a real PITA to get them both off then back on. We then proceeded to give it a good wash.

After that we pulled the interior so Jenny could thoroughly clean the carpet and interior while I focused on detailing the exterior.

Here are a couple comparison images of what the paint looked like before and after.

By the time I got done with the exterior it was too dark to take pics, but we were able to snap a few of the interior.

The sun finally gave us a chance to snap some pics of the exterior today. I think it turned out very well. The first one is a before pic, so you can compare and contrast.

Next we're going to paint the trim and put it back on, get a tire for the basketweaves and put those back on, and possibly paint the kidney's. I'm pretty sure Jenny wants to shadowline it at some point, and I know she'll be looking for Zinno plastic bumpers for a swap. She's deeply in love and very happy with the purchase. Stay tuned!

          Very nice stuff.

I heard using Kiwi black shoe polish will bring back the shine on the bumpers and other black trim pieces, but you can always use SEM trim paint, works like a charm.
          Reminiscing...

Looks nice! Ben and I still need to detail our (his) iX. We (I) have been too busy addressing all of the other problems with the car to worry too much about the paint. Plus I don't think cleaning up the white paint will be as rewarding as red paint, but I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. Nice car. :)

What are those black vents (ducts) under the carpet, under the seat? I took my seats out the other day (to strip it) and the wire was connected to my seats; didn't know why it was connected to a wire.

Nice ix!!! I absolutely love the ix on rainy days; not so much on dry days.

The black vents are for the heater, for rear seat passengers. The wire under the seat is for the seatbelt.

Thanks for the comments guys. What's interesting is the two pin wire under the driver seat doesn't connect anywhere I can seem to see, even after removing the seat and looking. What's the purpose of it being connected to the seat if the car doesn't have a seat belt indicator light?

A few days ago we bought new tires for the basketweaves because driving on studs sucks, and Jenny hated how the steelies looked. I was going to take some pics but the guys put the wheel weights on the outside. Today she got a chance to drop the car off so they could swap them to the back of the wheels.

                                Soon enough Josh :)

It's not going to be easy finding plastics in Zinnoberot.
