sorry for omitting the "the" in my post. as you can tell i usually post very late at night. backtrail69 and i have a friend who is a rotard.. has owned like 4 FD's and at least 3 FC's, its hard to keep track. Anyways yeah they can make good midrange and high RPM power.
I dont know who said 11000rpm.... it's not that easy to get a rotary to rev that high, rotaries need PERFECTION when it comes to machine work in order to last. In Japan, Australia, New Zealand, if you try talking to someone about those damn unreliable rotaries, they will stare back at you with a confused face. They know how to build and tune them. In America there are only a few places that consistently turn out good motors and even fewer people that deliver safe good tunes.
What kind of turbocharger setup are you going with? I'm distantly acquainted with the current owner of Sport Compact Car's Project FD. He converted it to a GT35R single turbo setup (and has yet to address fueling properly), but it seems like a good match if you want a huge power output.
What kind of porting are you going to be doing on the motor? What kind of turbos?
I've never claimed I was going for sport compact or whatever crazy tune power.
STOCK FD makes 255 hp on STOCK twins. Thats what i have. Removing emissions, custom intake/exhaust and a boost controller and that's about the extent of my 'tuning' for now. 290 hp out of the motor in basically stock form is NOT unbelievable and should be a good amount of power for fast e30 that originally came with 101hp.
Also I think I'll be listening to the advice of the guy that's going to assemble my motor for me as far what power levels to run, etc, rather than R3V
I don't think your mom appreciates the value of those modifications

That's the whole appeal of the 13B-REW engine, isn't it? With a stock engine and some very basic mods, you can match (or beat) Euro S50 power levels in a much smaller and lighter package with plenty of room to grow in the future.
WOW!! I LOVE THIS THREAD!! i have a 10ae with 13b-rew swap, j ported with a couple of other goodies pushing 416whp @ 15psi. and it's nothing to see 10.5k rpm in her. keep up the good work!! if you ever need help, i'm in sc.
seriously??? YOU IN SC???
Yes i could use some help when I get to the wiring, are you running stock ecu?
I would guess not at that power. I see you are planning a 24v swap soon? we'll have to run 'em!!!!

BTW, do you happen to know the weight of the 13B-REW with the twin-turbo assembly and all the associated plumbing? What about the tranny? I haven't found good numbers anywhere. I know that it's heavier than the 13B...but by how much?
My gut feeling is that a complete 13B-REW plus turbo and tranny should come in at under the weight of a complete S14 plus tranny. Maybe even close to the weight of a complete M10 plus tranny.
I found a page that said the FD (firewall forward) engine, oil cooler etc but w/o trans adds 325 lbs to the car.
I'll weigh the 2 different setups m10 w/ trans vs 13b turbos and trans see which is lighter

If that's true, then it's incredibly light. Please keep us updated!
Wow! This is really confusing..... I read you are putting a 13B in the car and want 290 out of it, no possible. Then i read with a 20B IC. Turbo charging an N/A 13B... not good. Now i read 13B-REW? What motor are you putting into this beast? Anyway you do it i am proud. Rotarys are my life. I have owned them sense i was 15 and have done 7-8 motor/tranny/turbo swaps in the past 3 years. It is sad to see that people flame rotarys and talk bad about them that have not actually worked with them. Ignorant people. Yes you see alot of rotarys fail because of poor tuning, mainly because of to much boost on a stock ECU. Go haltech. Your rotary will thank you. Good luck with this swap. I am so excited to see it completed.
