    meh new turbo 325i :)

hey everyone...I'm back in the US now after 10yrs working/living overseas. I spent the past 1.5yrs in China setting up a new company and have now moved back to the US to be with my family.

The 3.0L cab is still in Singapore, and I've really missed driving it over the past year and a half, but Thursday I bought Dusty's old 325i turbo from Dean. Flew up there and hung out with Dean all morning, who by the way is a great guy. We got an airfilter on there and hooked up some of the charge pipes that he removed to get me measurements the day before, and by 1:30pm departed Wisconsin for the long drive back to KY.

In case you don't know, this car only has a 2-3ft downpipe straight down to the bottom of the car, so it is VEEEERY loud. I've never driven an E30 at such low revs, but it is needed until Weds when I'll get a full 3" exhaust system fitted through a 3" in/out Borla XR-1 silencer (well I may still do this myself...we'll see). Also, I'll pick up some new 90 degree adaptors that I ordered since the current adaptors really aren't for turbo pipes. Lastly, and most urgent is the euro grill I already ordered.....it's my fave part of BMW's and right now it looks like ass without a grill/kidneys.

Quite a few small issues with the car that I'm slowly attending to, but the main issues will be resolved quickly:

    1) exhaust (my neighbours prob wanna kill me, as well as any motorist w/in 1/4 mile of me)
    2) dyno (this will be done right after the exhaust is fitted to see where the ratio's are at w/out proper engine management)
    3) standalone engine management (if it looks as ugly as I think it will, then prob get Haltech fitted the next day....still considering MS but the tuner doesn't like the system due to it's lack of control compared to Haltech....is this true?)
    4) WIDER WHEELS (needs more meat even at a low 5psi)
    5) taller IE 3 springs (these SPAX are just too low for me)

Anyhow....here's a couple of bad pics but more will be added once this car get's where I want it. I will mostly leave the body alone as I've always loved the simplicity of the 2dr E30's. Once the suspension is higher then I'll slap on the "is" lip that's sitting in my house.

The engine bay is sooooo freakin clean though, and the interior has also been well maintained. Lastly, this E30 hauls mucho ass!!! WOOOOT!

cheers fellas, the price was dropped to 4k, so I jumped all over it....kudos to a very nice seller! and ya it's the same car as the one with the mattress on the roof ;) best for sale pic I've seen in ages hehhehe

the cab is staying in SG due to the outrageous federalization fee's $9000 not including shipping across the pacific! It may be stripped of all the good parts (M3 5lug setup, M-Tech kit, 3.0L stroker engine, control arms, tie rods, M-Tech interior, etc) and shipped over to be transplanted on another cab over here....we'll see.

The new ride is pretty sweet, hope you're planning to do something about that front end, though. :D

It's a damn shame that the cabby has to die. :(

 on your engine bay. With complete exhaust you could fool some idiot into thinking you just have a loud exhaust . Once I get mine sorted out I'm gonna look at buying another m20 to turbo. You inspired me. Very nice.

ya the grill needs immediate attn....over the weekend I ordered a used euro grill from Germany, so it should arrive in a couple of weeks I guess. It's killin me the way it is right now.

I'd like to avoid dismantling the cab, but there is no way I'll pay the govt 9k to have it federalized....that's a fukkin joke and the DOT should be shot in the head for making such regulations.

Looks like a trade is already made on the SPAX with rwdrift, but thanks for the interest.

At 3k this car woulda been a total steal.....guess I shoulda offered less heheheh, but it was all good for me and the seller at 4k.

Nice nice car... Can't wait to get my M30 turbo up and running, we'll compare numbers then..

Have any approximate numbers? WHP, Ft/lb, anything?

thanks, i only bought this car on thursday ;)

as soon as the exhaust is on tomorrow, it will be dyno'd to see how bad it needs engine management. until it gets properly tuned it will not be run above 5-7psi.

good luck with your M30 turbo

                          Chris,

My buddy Kevin (DTRGuy on here) is a turbo expert - has a shop up here in Florence. He is also a dealer for 034 standalone systems.

He is building an outrageous M50/M52 frankenturbo right now.

He is an excellent fabricator and could do you up an exhaust.
