hey everyone...I'm back in the US now after 10yrs working/living overseas. I spent the past 1.5yrs in China setting up a new company and have now moved back to the US to be with my family.
The 3.0L cab is still in Singapore, and I've really missed driving it over the past year and a half, but Thursday I bought Dusty's old 325i turbo from Dean. Flew up there and hung out with Dean all morning, who by the way is a great guy. We got an airfilter on there and hooked up some of the charge pipes that he removed to get me measurements the day before, and by 1:30pm departed Wisconsin for the long drive back to KY.
In case you don't know, this car only has a 2-3ft downpipe straight down to the bottom of the car, so it is VEEEERY loud. I've never driven an E30 at such low revs, but it is needed until Weds when I'll get a full 3" exhaust system fitted through a 3" in/out Borla XR-1 silencer (well I may still do this myself...we'll see). Also, I'll pick up some new 90 degree adaptors that I ordered since the current adaptors really aren't for turbo pipes. Lastly, and most urgent is the euro grill I already ordered.....it's my fave part of BMW's and right now it looks like ass without a grill/kidneys.
Quite a few small issues with the car that I'm slowly attending to, but the main issues will be resolved quickly:
1) exhaust (my neighbours prob wanna kill me, as well as any motorist w/in 1/4 mile of me)
2) dyno (this will be done right after the exhaust is fitted to see where the ratio's are at w/out proper engine management)
3) standalone engine management (if it looks as ugly as I think it will, then prob get Haltech fitted the next day....still considering MS but the tuner doesn't like the system due to it's lack of control compared to Haltech....is this true?)
4) WIDER WHEELS (needs more meat even at a low 5psi)
5) taller IE 3 springs (these SPAX are just too low for me)
Anyhow....here's a couple of bad pics but more will be added once this car get's where I want it. I will mostly leave the body alone as I've always loved the simplicity of the 2dr E30's. Once the suspension is higher then I'll slap on the "is" lip that's sitting in my house.
The engine bay is sooooo freakin clean though, and the interior has also been well maintained. Lastly, this E30 hauls mucho ass!!! WOOOOT!
