Smaller speaker magnets, no gas cap, 3 lug nuts per wheel, the possibilities are endless!
Look at it this way... if it's 2055 now, then with a gutted interior, removed A/C, etc..., he is looking at 1700lbs or less. Who would have thought a member of r3v would have the lightest street legal e30 in the world?Comment

lol. BTW I think the cams on the M42 are hollow factory. Also comes with adjustable cam gears ;)Comment
-
i dont know m42's but i know s52's etc are hollow. i was assuming he bored out his cams making the walls thinner. he talked about re casting the alternator case to save some grams too. lots of good info hereComment

at this rate the driver of this car had better be an anorexic to avoid messing up the weight balance! :)Comment

while this cannot be confirmed i heard rumor that cosgrove has e30rcr enrolled in a socal fat farm on a stringent diet and exercise program. they will be swapping over e30rcr's bumpers once they has his weight down to 110lbs and he will act as driverComment

What would the car weigh with the OP as the driver along with his ego? That should easily bring it back to the 2500-2700 lb range... EASILY!

The stock rear subframe cannot weigh more than 15-20 lbs, bare, with no bushings. The only way to shave weight would be to make custom tubular a-arms. This wouldn't be too difficult if you have access to a fabricator.-OVULATOR (as named by jflip2002)

77hp per litter is impressive but not incredible.

Fizzy-izz-iX'ed.
Serious, The OP must have bounced backwards across the NB 101 one times too many.

Possibly. But I don't think any ninjitsu training manuals describe the art of E30 weight savings.
It is pretty impressive for an engine that puts out 115 whp in its stock incarnation, has no knock sensors, a restrictive air metering system, and very low DME processing power.
Sure, the F20C puts out around 100 whp per liter, stock, but then again, it is a really special engine. The ports are the size of watermelons in comparison.
True, that was the implication.
This thread is damning evidence of the ills of smelling too much tetra-ethyl lead.-OVULATOR (as named by jflip2002)

Okay... I did indeed miss calculate the kerb weight... I think my conversion from kg to lbs was defective (I'm no math wizard)... @2255
At any rate....
Rather than me telling you all how (that would be silly of me under the circumstances wouldn't it)...
Here is a project for one of you:
First you are going to need a clean stock e30 and a large space to work in (Airport hangars work well for this). You will also need a bunch of money and time (get together and pool your resources).
Completely disassemble the car (completely... you have probably seen pictures of this).
Weigh every single component.
Re-fabricate, substitute or throw away items PRN. ABS, Aluminum, titanium, Teflon and (oddly enough) hobby shops are your friends here...Comment

You're still lying. A much more achievable claim however, but still
