I finally took the car out of winter storage on May 17th. Unfortunately, the fun didn't last long, as the alternator gave up/stopped charging and the car went straight back into the garage.

I immediately pulled the alternator out of the car and ordered a rebuilt replacement from Spareto.com. It arrived just a few days later via DHL.

The new (rebuilt) alternator.

I then put together an accurate replica of a Racing Dynamics instrument cluster, with help and products from e30clusters.com.

I'm really happy with this instrument cluster. The E30 M3 cluster was awesome too, but as some of you may have noticed, I have a serious weakness for Racing Dynamics... now I just need the body kit as well.

Tried fitting some eyelids to the car.

I also tried fitting some black kidney grilles.

The final verdict was that the eyelids had to go — they were cooler in my memory — but the black kidney grilles are staying. The plan is to get rid of the chrome side trim soon as well.

A little cleaning before a BMW meet.

Drove home through Hvalfjörður and stopped here and there along the way.

Took the car to a company called 230Customs to have the chrome trim wrapped in satin black, which turned out really well.

A little photoshoot on the way home.

Took it for inspection, and it passed with a 2028 sticker and no remarks.

Took the car to a car show in Selfoss and went for a drive through the Nesjavallaleið route with two other cars.

Then a bit of a spontaneous decision came up to head north to Bíladagar (Bíladagar means "Cardays" its every year in iceland, but i went now just for the car show. I was offered transport for the car there and back on a car transporter, along with some of the other cars heading to the show. It turned into a fun trip with Árni S.

We got the cars into the carshow and gave them a good polish as well. The grey one is an M8 Competition and the other one is a Defender OCTA — some seriously wild machines.

After the show, the car transporter was loaded up and we headed back home.

Ran into a frieand Þórður ONNO on the way home and stopped for a little chat.

It's been a really fun summer so far, and it's definitely not over yet! The big BMW meet is still coming up, along with plenty of other things.
The plan is to take a few more drives and make it to all the meets!
