Newman, this is absolute fucking tits. And being an Engineering student only makes me appreciate the work that much more.

Thanks guys! Sometimes I forget to acknowledge the compliments and concentrate on defending myself against the haters...

It shouldn't be that way. All the compliments really do mean a lot to me, and they're probably the only reason I'm able to keep working on it.

        group hug, lol.

              +1

People under estimate these big projects, I know I under-estimated the size of mine

how do you plan on dealing with the heat from the exhaust? i would assume you have prepared something as that could potentially cause lack of braking power or a fire(in rare case something causes fluid to get onto the exhaust).

In all fairness, there are probably a million setups running on the streets where the downpipe and turbo is far closer to the manifold, but it just goes under it (which is actually worse)

Due to my unorthodox setup though, everybody flips out.

That said, I have a pretty ballerish DEI "titanium" turbo blanket and exhaust wrap for the downpipe. I may look into constructing a booster heat shield as well.

I'm an engineer, it wasn't THAT expensive, I think I paid 250 for the shield and wrap, maybe less.

The awd rwd thing is covered on the blog. And has been asked probably 150 times. Look it up. :P

You really have no clue what your talking about, all your posts are just going to give people misleading information who don't know your rep.

Btw read the thread, your answer is in there.

Newman - you should be able to get some sweet heat shielding material from ACL. They use it on the factory Ford XR6 Turbos out here. It's basically a thin sheet of metal that has secret heat-deflecting rainbows inside it, which you can bend around all kinds of stuff. I used it as a turbo heat shield on my Subaru and also used it to shield the brake and clutch master cylinders on that car (as RHD models are on the RH-side). http://www.aclperformance.com.au/prod_heatshield.htm

DEI also make great stuff to shield lines (incl. fuel lines) which would probably be even easier to get over there. http://www.designengineering.com/products.asp

                          Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure I took a whole bunch of that corrugated ACL stuff out of the back of my exige... In face I may even have the one from my elise somewhere too...

                                Oh my god

I feel bad for that Mike guy... If it's the same stuff I wrapped my STI's downpipe with, it's like fiberglass-ish.... Itchy as hell. I wore gloves for it but it still sucked.
