Got both brackets on and everything together. Had a bit of trouble with the bleeder valves. Broke both of them off. Luckily I had spare calipers which the bleeder valves came out fine. Put anti seize on them and bleed the brakes.
Took it for a drive. Sounds super mean without an exhaust and drive a lot better now. Took it to the gas station and topped it off. Slight problem.
So much for that new subframe paint.
Waiting for the gas to leak out so I can drive it home.
Should have seen that one coming, judging by the outside of the car.. these gas tanks love to rust from the inside out.
Good luck with the project. I'm so glad I live in the south and generally dont see cars like this.. I've bought several different E30's for $250-350 that are completely rust free, and a couple of them were drivers! I hate rust more than spiders..
so do the math. u spent 350 to buy the thing. ima say at least that much to fix the problems. another 100 to get the trailing arms. now ur looking at somewhere around 450 for a tank. than lets say thats the last problem. which is unlikly, but still. ok so than your looking at between 500 and 2000 in paint and body work. and that depends on who u know and how much u can do yourself, also thats if u can actually fix the rust. your much better off to just buy a new one that isnt a waste bucket and spent ur money on better things. i say buy the m50 one. he has done all the work, all u have to do is wire the thing and put in the diff. he is also giving u a new dash. try to part this thing and make a little money to put toward something worth the effort.

Don't hate the player hate the game. I'm looking at like $100 for a used tank. Then I have to buy an angle grinder and vinegar also coilovers. I really don't think I would want to do what I am going to do to a good car.
Also I already have a good car. Please keep the negativity out of this thread. I've gotten a lot of good support and this has been a fun experiment and in the end I'm going to have a running $1k bimmer to trash around in.
What really sucks is that most of what you just reinstalled has to come back out in order to remove the gas tank-at least I 'think' it does...someone correct me if I am wrong.
I think I would have been tempted to just light a match at that point and time and be done with it.
J/K Sorry couldn't help it! Keep up the perseverance.

There are few things more expensive than a cheap BMW...
Found a local yard with 5 of them for $50 each. The guy I talked to on the phone said 'just give me a holler and I'll get one of the boys to pull it for you'. Shit maybe I'll get him to install it as well.

Oh man that made me chuckle!
Honestly you guys need to understand something, puting money into a car that only serves one purpose and doing it in small amounts over time is really the only way some of us can do things. I'm in the same boat as Soapy here. Yeah I could have "Saved" my $100 here and $200 dollars there but I live paycheck to paycheck at this point and if I don't spend it when I have it, it gets spent on other things that I NEED. It's a stupid way to do things and in the long run costs me more then if I would have done it "Right" in the first place; but with projects like these, some of the "Oh Shit"s are half of the fun.
Seriously, don't try and reeducate, don't hate, and dont look down on someone for doing something within thier means, just because its not how you would(n't) do it. Remember this is just a DD commuter for this kid to get back and forth to school. He doesn't need to do $2000 worth of body work. So what if the back doors can't be opened cuz they will fall off the hinges?
He just needs to make it safe and driveable so he can go to school, get that 6 figure a year salary job and then buy an old E30 M3 and restore it like we do here on R3V.
