Strict budget, slow restoration. *Now with moar budget*
Pittsburg tools for the win!
These little suckers will be full of oil so it's tough to get an allen key all the way into the socket. I stripped this one out, so I hammered a T45 torx bit into it and was able to get it out.
Nice! I liked the SM Hoosiers that I ran, they break away pretty abrubtly but tons of grip. It's a lot of fun driving them right on the threshold. Are yours SM7's or 6's? The 7 is the 2014 tire and they last forever, the 6's fall off after about 5 cycles pretty hard.
Thanks man. That guy was cool, he was nearby on the paddock. Neither of us had been to Sears Point before. He had the faster car, I just warmed up to the track quicker--in the earlier sessions he said he would point me by and try to follow my lines, but then later in the day he got faster and pulled away in the straights, and I was the one chasing.
This weekend confirmed that the car's significantly down on power. I have no idea why yet... but I'm guessing I should be just a bit faster in a straight line than a BRZ.
Saturday was fun, went back to Thunderhill all excited with the Hoosiers on, only to have it fucking rain, lol.
After comparing data to my previous thill day with my DD 330i, this car is way down on power. Stock 330i pulled another 10mph down the front straight even though the e30 on hoosiers starts out faster... I've pitted the two cars against each other before and the e30 was noticeably quicker in a straight line.
Some dude in a yellow s2k was having a bad day, lol.
Final pic before packing up
Oh and the obligatory video.. didn't get many clean laps in, I had a few 2:09s in the bag but it either started raining or somebody held me up. Still a ton of fun. The Hoosiers didn't communicate very well so I'm sawing away at the wheel around a lot of corners. Fun but I think I could improve.

They're 6s and I got em for stupid cheap with 6 heat cycles on em. They probably have about 11 now, but still pulled 1.3G in the last session, should be good for another event or two :)
Annoyingly, the 3 clutch diff gets completely overpowered by these things. I'll keep it for now but may have to do something more drastic in the future.
Even with the rain still looked fun. I like the ithinkicanithinkican technique used to overtake the blue brz.

yeah rain was fun but hairy... watch 4:50 closely, starts to understeer on turn-in even though I'm taking it easy. luckily it's fine but you've gotta drive with a big margin for error.
doubt I'll do an OSG, maybe a 30/90 ramp and another clutch if I decide to keep running slicks :) let's see how it does with nt01s first.
