A few updates from yesterday and today.

    Yesterday:

Been almost a month since it rained here. The vert ended up being cleaner because of it.

Changed out the rear main, installed the pilot bearing and installed the flywheel.

Got my new O2 sensor and tranny brace from EricT

Also got the wiring harness adapter from EricT and started installing it.

    Interior starting to come together.

One for each day of the week.

    Today so far:

Installing my header studs from turner.

    Got my clutch on.

Got my ebay SS headers and put the O2 sensor on.

Got my DS together and installed the proper CSB

Took out the cluster for the harness adapter.

My new T/O bearing next to the one I was curious about. They are the same!

So this is the pigtail for my fan. Do I need the two black wires that went to the resistor or just the red and brown?

If you leave the o2 sensor there it will only read one bank of cylinders. It needs to be further down stream, in either an X or H or Y pipe.

That is what I was thinking too but Eric has the exact same setup and none of the techs at the local dealership said anything about it although they were complaining about many other things. The M20 has it in the same place on one bank too but I will keep an eye on that and consider it as an issue if it does not run well.

I have seen a lot of you guys installing the engine with the headers on so I decided to try that as well. When me and eric installed the engine without the headers we had to remove the passenger side engine arm to get the headers in there. The O2 sensor will remain there until I drive it to the exhaust shop and they can fix everything up for me.

Can you guys confirm that these are both just ground wires that I need to ground out to the bay somewhere. This is on the passenger side of the E34 harness.

Can anyone also confirm that this is a power wire that I attach to the battery post on the passenger side firewall? This is on the passengers side end of the E34 harness as well. I really don't want to mess these up fry my harness.

            Got the engine installed today.

Car sitting outside waiting for its new heart.

            My usual peanut gallery.

            Engine dropped in place.

This is where the "fun" starts. I get everything together and get ready to start it for the first time.

The first time I get nothing. After a few times I can get the starter to start but not engage the flywheel. Sort of an FML moment as starters are already my nemesis :(

I hooked up my starter exactly as shown below courtesy of Herlsy

Nice work, man! That'll be a huge upgrade to the rickity-rackity super low 4 door I saw when you bought my Borbet's. So glad to see them being used properly still!

haha for sure man! I'm hoping to find another pair of 16x9 this winter for a square setup and put it on GC coils so I can be even lower. Need to get it driving first though lol.

So another thing I noticed when I tried to start it was when i turned the key to position 2 the temp gauge defaulted to red rather than blue like normal. Anyone know what's up?

Hey look, I'm in the back doing my rear shocks.

I shall be over whenever you're about to get started. Holler when you're ready.

So today I took off the intake and replaced the starter with a similar one but I noticed the teeth on the starter were different. The one I took out had fat wide teeth and the one I replaced it with has thin narrow teeth. I hooked up all the necessary starter related stuff and the starter engaged and the engine turned over just fine. Great success!

The temp problem is still there though. This is the sensor that I used off the M20 I pulled.

It is plugged into the wire that does not have the blue band and it has only one connection. It seems to do the same thing with it plugged in and unplugged. Maybe bad sensor?

Try switching the leads from the harness?
