So i got tired of having to have my EMS dangle un mounted in order to do any tuning so i decided to do something about it. After coming up with many elegant and simple solutions i decided to do the most elaborate and expensive way possible. lol. Excuse the crap photos and work station. My desk was taken over by a six year old.
So the first thing you have to do to modify an existing completed MS unit is to de solder the db9 plug. I fount the easiest way was to pop off the back and heat up and pull each pin one by one.
Next was to modify a idc 10 plug to work on the board. I removed the # 10 pin and bent the remaining pins to fit. Pins 1-5 need to be spead apart and 6-9 need to cocked over. (no homo)
Then i soldered in place and test fitted idc to db9 cable. Now i could have stopped there but that would have been to easy. So i decided to make an extension cable so it could be remote mounted anywhere in the car. Almost everything used had to be purchased in bulk so i have enough to make 9 more kits if anyone is interested.

If you ever wonder why people say "use this tune at your own risk." Needless to say CA has crap gas and we need our own special tune. Unfortunately the moment i changed my timing maps to IXERS map my computer took a dump. So the two weeks i drove around waiting for new parts and software created irreparable damage which led to a blown head gasket once i did correct the tune.
Took everything out at once. Seemed like a good idea until i picked it up off the block. Lol. But it was to late to set it down and risk causing further damage
New parts
I had the head rebuilt and its back on the car. Did not take any pics cause i was trying to beat the rain.

So after much deliberation i finally put a gauge in my boost pod. Not sure i'll keep this or the custom gauge i made. I like this one cause it goes to 20psi and i plan on running 18lbs. The one i'm making fit the e30 only goes to 15 and does not show vacuum.

looks good. you cant use that gauge wherever your making it go?
Basically i'm too lazy to finish it. Lol. Plus it only goes to 15psi. I'll probably sell it when its done. It has orange LEDs to perfectly match the interior lights and a glass needle like the e36s
After working on pulling the head and such i decided my intercooler plumbing needs to be more stealth on the drivers side. So i'm going to take a shot at making it more like e36 bottom mount setups. Here is an inspiration pic from AA.
