Got bit by the turbo bug.

    I have not updated this thread i forever. Have not really touched the car since it was rear ended. Well i've been hoarding parts and i had the quarter panel repaired so i hope to have the car better then ever by this summer. Before i build a new motor i need to address some issues. The biggest of which are the ecu and clutch. I sold my ecu to ocgrinder after the car was hit. I have a new ms2 system that i built but it needs some finishing touches. I'm pretty swamped with work and school so whodwho is going to give me a hand with that. The clutch started slipping long ago and i've been slowly building up my parts stash to do an s52. Castro Motorsports has hooked me up with a starter and light weight flywheel. I took it down to AASCO and they put a new surface on it. I'll be running it with a grip force stage 3 sprung 6 puck disc and pressure plate.

          you will regret running a pucked clutch. i have one in my rx8. i put it in because i was installed a greddy turbo. i have since sold the turbo kit. it makes driving a real fucking hassle. unless you are putting down 400+whp there is zero reason to have one.

          i promise you. you will regret it. sell it and buy a normal clutch while it's not installed.

            I dissagree with this somewhat. I have one in my E30 and its not really all that much harder. Once you get used to it there's no issue. I haven't driven it in 6 months but I could get in and drive it fine straight away. The only thing that's slightly difficult about it are big hill starts.

              not only that but high hp rated clutches chatter. not a big deal but in a daily car it can get annoying

                Yeah this is true. Mine does chatter but its not a issue as its not a daily driver. Chatter becomes worse if you mix it in with a Aluminium flywheel.

                  At least that pucked clutch is sprung. Thats doable. Now a non-sprung puck disc is either on or off. Big difference.

                    I have the same clutch he's going to run. You get used to everything so it won't be annoying. The biggest annoyance would be the small chatter when taking off.

                      The diesel is my daily driver for now. Will be an e39 touring once i finish this car. And i plan on making at least 450-500whp.

                        I could stand to learn a little more about why clutches chatter (when the springs aren't dead and they're not oil soaked OFC)...

                          i think it has to do with the composite materials used to make the clutch. They make more noise then organic materials do???

                            i also have a 4 puck in my rx8, so it's worse. but the chatter on take off has really worn on me over the last 2 years.

                              I drove ocgrinders car around for a day while i was tuning it and it was not even noticeable. Even with a 3.25 LSD. The clutch effort was though. Could be a work out during rush hour.

                                Got the clutch and transmission installed today. Also weighed the flywheel for shits and giggles.
