I'm with you on that. The 2JZ is also very good sounding, but the RB26 is more...ummm..sharp if I can say that. Have been a dream to swap a RB into something unusual since the Tokyo Drift Mustang :)

Thanks! Great to have support from some people, since there is many haters on it already. But if you got haters you are doing something right they say.

Today I spent some hours tidy the garage. It was a total mess. Scrubbed the floor and got things organized. Did not have time to tidy up the work bench, so I did not bother with any pictures.
Starting to work on the oilpan tomorrow.

Got some work done today. Trying to get a overview of the project. I'm at this point seeing single turbo as an option, thought I would not like it.

So, I just hoisted it into the car to have a look at what I have to work with. First thing was that the exhaust from the rear turbo did hit the firewall.

I removed the dumps from the rear turbo and hoisted it in again. At this point the front differential was stopping to get the engine into posistion, so that have to me removed from the oilpan before I can go on in posisioning the engine.

Removed the oilpan/diff and removed the diff itself from the housing.

I like that it have these braces between the bearing caps, I can't remember what it is called. It also have piston squirters.

Great thread. Got to the RB26 part & was going to point out that the RB series are even longer than an M30, so not much room up front for radiator or a large intercooler, then the exhaust issues etc. But you already know this.

Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Ok guys, I have now collected the engine! That thing is massive :P Block is 10cm longer than an M20. Engine was bought from a company 4 hours from me. Delivered with guarantee, compression test, bench tested by the seller himself. Converted to push type clutch and ready for mating with the R33 RWD gearbox. Also got the front part of the driveshaft.

Adding some wheel porn as well. Deivered the OZ's to the new owner couple of weeks ago. He was very happy with what he got, and I can't deny that I was very happy with how they turned out after the repolish.

I have talked to people that have done it in RHD E30, and there was nothing mentioned about the strut tower. Remember that these engines is swaped into LHD 200sx's as well.

Hmmm. Stock twins just might work. Either way if they dont it's going to be hitting the chassis fork/strut tower. Just maybe with how the rb26 sits angled, it would help clear the stock twins. The only quick solution would be to notch the areas that cause issues.

But what's a rb26 swap without a fat snail right next to it ;D

Y'all Norwegians will figure something out!
