Went and bought some flap wheels, and the reason it looks dark is because the sand in the paint is black...

Late to the party – don’t think I’ve posted in this thread yet (?)

First off: props Matt on all your work thus far – and thanks for sharing your project here. I love pictures of new maintenance parts – and you have those in spades.

Secondly – I feel you on the engine bay – it’s an area that I personally only feel so motivated to ‘clean up’ and ‘detail out’.

Have to agree with others though: your initial bay work does pretty bad. I truly believe that if you spend some time cleaning it up – and working it out – it’s going to be one of those deals where it’s that much more rewarding when you’re done. I don’t see much expense in the work required – just some time. Fuck what the paint looks like – so long as it’s uniform-ish. I’m kinda WTF? on use of bedliner – but it’s your car. The lion’s share of ‘fix it’ work I see when it comes to your bay is taking time with paper towels and acetone to wipe/clean up overspray.

Regarding a load-leveler – see what’s available for rent. I suppose one could separate engine and transmission, install engine, and then put transmission on from below if you really had to do without one.

In any event – it’s your project – make the best of things and have fun doing it.. and thank god warmer temps are around the corner!

I don't think that is good for engines.

You aren't, it just happens to the best of us. I was just hoping for pics.

                  My M50 circa last October.

Was in the process of putting the bottom bolts in and forgot to set the locking pin. Lesson learned, I now put my mount on while it's on the ground. ;)

Be sure to attach your clutch line to your clutch master on the car instead of the slave. It will be easier for you in the future that way.

If anything, this is motivating me to go mask shit off and paint my strut towers/frame rails finally. lol sorry Matt-B. Just wish the welder was at my place so I could fix the little spot of rust and the tiny hole from removing the ign coil bracket.
