Never realized how much junk you had in your car Mike, all I hear about is the supercharger. That thing is BUILT.Leave a comment:

After the motor mount incident the car was parked and remained undriven until today.
I checked all major parts of the cooling system, and found nothing to be at fault, so I began the bleeding process again.
This time it was successful! I am happy to say the E30 is back on the road, after being down for 5 weeks.
Upcoming plans include a nice detailed wash and interior cleaning. I am redoing the hood, cause the sun is really breaking down the sharpie paint pens.
I have to renew the registration in August, and that involves a smog test. Last time I did it the fuel system failed to pressurize. They didnt fail me on it, but I want to figure it out.
Is the charcoal canister supposed to be pressurized? Or do I need to look for corroded fuel lines? I have no leaks around the injectors or the fuel rail. I can smell a hint of fuel when I drive sometimes. Any info is appreciated.Leave a comment:

Would like to know how much of the stud is sticking out after you bolt the engine mount arms down. I don't feel comfortable with the amount I have on mine. Nothing bad has happened yet but I don't think they are correct. I asked them about this and he asked me to email him a photo. Just haven't got around to it yet.
People need to stop recommending those green mounts for 24v swaps. Seen too many of them do that.Leave a comment:

Holy jeebus... Those mounts got wasted.
BTW, I think I might have some hookups with vibrant (guy at work)... they have vbands too. I will let you know buddy.Leave a comment:

Finally an update with some pics. Too bad it isnt anything cool, just regular maintenance that I have to do from parts failing on me.
So I bought these 200 dollar AKG E30 with M/Sx swap mounts. They dont look to bad and they feel really solid. Which I like. Though after installing them there is a lot more NVH from the engine, especially when the car is starting from 0, but I guess it will be something I have to get used to.

Quick patch of the Mishimoto with some JB weld until the new one comes in. Looking for someone who can weld it professionally so I can throw it in my M3.

This view is what got me curious as to what was wrong. Hint - look at the upper radiator hose!

And a motor mount shot.

And the failed M5 crap. They did last about 2.5 years though, but its the first time I have ever seen anything like this happen. Oh well. One must pay if he wishes to play with the bigger boys.

All in all it only took an hour to swap these suckers out. Too bad AKG didnt give you a hint to their orientation, and even properly installed they are still off by a smidge, but they look and feel a lot better than the M5 mounts most people use.
If you are going to do a 24v swap and you have the extra cash, grab these mounts instead of the M5 mounts.
Thats all I have for now. Exhaust is next. V-bands and a Vibrant. Acquiring parts now.Leave a comment:

I wish I could man, but the money has to go to other things. I am feeling the need for more maintenance, especially after the events I described in the post above this one.
As a note, I do not make much money. At all. Haha. I just get lucky sometimes. And yes it does feel good to get the upper hand every now and then.Leave a comment:

So after a year of driving the E30 after the S52 swap, probably around 12000 miles, I am returning home to San Diego from Phoenix. I hear a slight whining noise and I pull over. Pop the hood on the side of the freeway and notice my engine crank pulley is kissing my beautiful Mishimoto radiator, and the bitch has sprung a leak!
I was trying to figure out how this was possible until I looked at teh drivers side more closely and noticed the motor mount had SHEARED IN HALF!!!
Now I know its been a long time since I updated this thread, but this is not how I wanted to do it.
Thankfully the radiator just has a small hole in it, and it will be very easy to repair.
Just ordered the below motor mounts, that are designed for S5x swaps into E30's, so hopefully I wont ever have to deal with this again.
Shop BMW E30 bushings, mounts and performance parts for street, drift, track and race. Build with the best - Made in USA!
Oh, and yes the E30 did finish the remaining 30 miles of the trip under its own power. A shitload of water and a couple of heavy duty ratcheting straps did offer assistance, but thats a story for another day.
Stay tuned this weekend for updates!!Leave a comment:

Hells yeah. I have always felt that your car is similar to what mine would be if I had money.
Anyway I spot a certain missing belt, you may want to look into that...Leave a comment:
