I killed the heart and soul of that car when I started chopping things off, the trunk gone and once I tube the front end, there will only be about two thirds of an E30 left! It's a racecar dude, get over it.

I need a damn good car and I have less than 4 months before the first event, I don't even have time to make the m62 work with the tex racing trans, and it won't make enough power anyways, I need at least 500whp, and I could give a crap about where I get it. I just need a powerfull engine, and I don't have time to mess around with engine builders or make this hard on myself for the sake of pleasing a few BMW purists. Toyota guys acted the same way when people started swapping f20s into AE86s. Listen guys, whats wrong with combining a damn good car with a damn good engine? Nobody argued with Carrol Shelby when he took a small underpowered british sports car, dropped a big american V8 in it and called it a Cobra. Speaking of big american V8s, I into ordered a crate LS3 and all the parts to get the engine into the car, I should be able to get the engine bolted to the trans and fitted into the car the same day it arrives. If I went with the m60 I would need to make a custom bellhousing and make everything work and figure out a way to get another 100hp out of it, I don't have time for that. Going with the ls3 gives me a 480hp engine to start with, available bellhousings for the trans, and much more aftermarket options for power. It was not my first choice, but I just don't have time. Simply put, your money just goes further with the ls3. You just cant beat a brand new 480hp engine for just 6,600$, shipped to your door ready to go. I will post some pics when the engine gets here.

I am asking because I will be welding on some in the near future. Really liking the boxed sway bar mounts! at least you'll always know you can add a large sway bar and not worry if the mount will fail.
No heating with the torch, just clean it up really well. You don't want any spitter spatter.
The box sway bar mount is the way to go! If your gonna go through all the effort of cleaning up the sway mount and welding the tabs on, why not cut a few pieces of 1 inch strap and box it off! It takes only a few more minutes to really do it right. Just make sure you weld the box section with a 13mm bolt and socket in place to assure you have enough room to get a socket in there to get to the nut on the swaybar link after its all welded up.

I am very busy with the car at the moment, here are a few pics and a teaser article by wrecked magazine. I am working on the tube frame front end right now, I will have pics of that when I am done.
LS3 and SR1 mated!
Mounted in the e30!
Cutting away at the trans tunnel for clearance and to make an access door for the linkage
